if this organization had at least one half-witted hockey person making decisions they would try to pry that pick from Carolina with Carey Price. Carolina already has some nice young talent and they are desperate for a goalie.

Sure. Why not.

I think the most realistic scenario is him trading Pacioretty in a deal that involves a 1st rounder to draft another solid young player.

I hope you mean having pick number 2 and 3 and not just moving up one spot.

Price's value is very low right now.

If I'm another GM I don't touch that contract...in fact you would have to give me your third overall pick to make me consider it.

It's crazy amount of $$$ for a goalie. You could argue it kind of worked in NY for a while. But meh.

They should limit contract length to 4-5 years for UFAs. 8 years is too much, especially for a guy you sign at 30 years old.

The only way it can "work out" is if Price remains a top 5 goaltender for at least 5 of the 8 years of that contract.

Let's just pretend the last one doesn't count to give him a fresh start but things aren't looking up.

Yeah...well, it's been proven for a while now that NHL GMs need rules to protect them from themselves, with the last few lockouts.

...and they always find new ways to do dumb poop.

In my dream scenario, the 2020 lockout is permanent and the NHL folds by 2027

i think the success they're having in Vegas has exposed the fact that the majority of NHL GMs are terrible at their jobs.

It's not really fair that they don't put in on Jobboom when there's an open position.
