Gardiner would do well on a team like L.A or Boston(and not because of yesterday) because he needs to be on a defensively responsible team. We're not there.... yet. Should be on a team where his partner is good enough to cover for his mistakes, to allow him to be as creative offensively as he is.

Gotta pay a lot for good young right handed defenseman. They are the definition of having to pay a premium.

But is it really a lot? Gardiner has one year left before free agency, a 1st near the end of the first round... And a prospect? Some would argue that's not enough.

We want him to go....we don't need him to do well....that wouldn't work out in the "TRADE GARDINER" circles.

Imo, Gardiner is a very similar player to Dumba... so the upgrade here would be quite small to give up a first rounder and whatever decent prospect you're adding.

But that's just my opinion obviously.

Team was never in a position to let a premium asset bolt and get (frank) all in return.

Not Kessel well...but I'd wish him well too.

Most of his time during the reg season was riding around with the Matthews line and he got lots of PP time. He looks good for stretches...but he's far from great and shouldn't be leading a team in ice time. Didn't have to face the top line in reg season or the playoffs. ( very little anyways ) More of a risk then a reward if he can't be trusted against the other teams top line. I don't mind him sticking around...but he needs to be 4th in ice time...not 1st.

Agreed. Rielly should have most even strength time on ice. Gardiner doesn't need to play in certain situations. He's good for what he does.

And frenchy, I like manson but no way we move marner (probably trolling but just has to be said).

I want us to look at getting ekholm. Nashville's defense core is amazing and they still have young guys. Maybe even McKeown from Carolina.

Such a Leafy way to lose the game, didn't surprise me one bit.
