Leafs have too many guys that need the refs whistles to protect them.
Possible shoulder surgery for Matthews? No strength on face-offs or his shots.
Poor Morgan, 120 km/h clapper to the face and the mole survives. - Dirty_Irbe_Pads

We've been in need of a true number one whipping boy (1WB) for a couple years now. The job got done by committee, partly by Gardiner but also with strong contributions from Polak, JVR and Bozak. But with the latter two likely lost to free agency I think we'd really regret dealing a guy who's shown promise in the past but is really just now taking that next step to becoming a legit 1WB. Deal him now and you're just going to have to go looking for another one. - BlueBallz
it will be Nylander... Polak's still around.
can't criticize Marner, Matthews (even though he deserves some), Rielly, Andersen to a degree.
should be able to scapegoat guys like Hyman and Brown
I think Nylander and Polak are good candidates. |

Gud pros.
I don't care as long as I don't see #51 on the ice for the Leafs. Been saying this for 5 years, he will never learn to play defence.
Remember the line about Inge Hammarström by Ballard? It stands true about Gardiner. Piece of bonehead poop. |

genuinely curious... who do you believe the Leafs could get for Marner? - BorjeFan4Ever
Even though I would be bummed ... Manson for Marner ... Helps both teams.

On what drug infested planet would this even be close to a reasonable trade? |

I would keep Marner over Nylander. But if you moved Marner I'd expect a top pairing RHD coming back in the trade. Maybe Trouba still wants out of Winnipeg ? Something around Marner for Trouba and possibly Winnipeg adds on their end. Living in the GTA I still see more Leaf games then any other team. The Leafs have fantastic forward depth but until they get better on the backend it wont mean jack. - Pegullaville
Question was rhetorical... no way the Leafs trade Marner. He's going to be "heart" going forward.
I personally would consider moving Nylander for the "right D-man"... but not someone old that's for sure. |

I would only move Nylander if it’s for a young top pairing rhd... which isn’t really something you see on this market.
Not a chance Marner gets moved. - Feeling Glucky?
How about this:
Kapanen & Toronto's first round pick this year to the Flames for Brodie and Kylington.
Calgary needs wingers & draft picks - Leafs need defense and defense.
Leafs get a top pairing RHD that skates like the wind (Brodie) at a very reasonable contract hit (3.65 mil or something like that) and at the right age (27) to help lead the rest of their defensive youth. Plus they get 1 of the Flames top defensive prospects (21 Years old) in Kylington who has size and also skates like the wind. He is a little rough around the edges but has raw talent that needs to be groomed. He definitely has top pairing potential.
Flames get a skilled winger to play on the first line - who is getting buried in Toronto because of their forward depth + the 1st round pick this year - they currently do not have one.
Thoughts?

You may want to like actually watch Josh play before making that comment. Marner is talented all, but he's not all that as yet. And RHD stud D signed to great contracts aren't just falling off trees. |

Leafs are losing depth at forward this year. I suspect they will hold onto Kapanen. They also don't really want to trade first round picks so that's a no. Nice try though.

I don't know... seriously, I think Bablord may have been "showing" Lou and Shanny exactly what his defense was capable of...
what do they want to blame Babcock for... not playing Rielly and Hainsey for 40minutes a game? |
