Everyone said Lappy should not be the guy running the PK, I don't think they were nearly as concerned with whether he was fired altogether. Hey, I agree with you that he shouldn't be the guy that runs the PK, but we don't know for sure if he will be when next season starts.

If he is though, and they upgrade the personnel that he has to work with then they have no excuses. Either the PK improves dramatically or Lappy has to go.

I do find it interesting that during the 13-14 season, he coached the PK to a 84.8% which was 7th in the league. So, did he forget how to coach or is it more due to the personnel? That 13-14 had Coots, a younger Matt Read who had 4 shorties, Giroux and Adam Hall who was fantastic on faceoffs and also scored 2 shorties. On D, you had a top PK pair of Coburn and Timonen who were also very good at killing penalties.

Again, I think a new voice calling the shots would make sense, but to put it all on Lappy is also just as absurd.

It can absolutely be about personnel. Who do you have that could get the job done. We've never seen Filppula, Lehtera or Raffl on the Flyers PK for long stints until this season. Raffl has been off it for years. Suddenly you call Read up from the minors and put him with Coots and you magically see improvement. Too much of a mixed bag. I'm not sure Lappy is entirely to blame.

I can't stand Brenden Dubinsky but have you ever watched him kill a penalty? He's going right after the puck carrier on his side of the ice. No sitting back by that guy and it's effective.

I don't want spoilers, but can someone tell me if I will miss something huge in Avengers: Infinity War if I have missed any of these:

Guardians of the Galaxy (any of them)
Black Panther
Captain America vs. Iron Man
Thor: Ragnarok

I don't wan to put down the money if I'm going to miss a major plot line because it was in one of these movies.

Not sure if joking but those are about the 5 most important movies leading into this one.

Btw, Infinity War is pretty damn solid. I hope part II doesn't take forever to come out.

do people not completely listen to what is said? they would consider Filppula back but not pre-july 1 which TO ME is code for we will look to upgrade but have Filppula to fall back on if nothing shakes out. Hextall said I know more about the coach and the coach more about the players....not hey I know more than you. I agree with him. he knows what goes on behind the scenes. we don't. now that doesn't mean he or Hakstol are always right, they do make mistakes. Giroux didn't blame the fans for the loss, he simply said the boos can sometimes make them press.

Sometimes i really have to shake my head at people.

You're kind of SOL if you haven't seen GOTG, Captain American: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok and Dr. Strange...lot of backstory in those movies that Infinity War assumes you're familiar with.

Follow up is out next year, so we don't have a long time to wait for the 2nd portion.

Right. But will there be huge things I don't understand in Infinity War if I haven't seen them?

I know that Black Panther is in Civil War, and that Wakanda is super advanced, but I know nothing about Ragnarok and the 2 GotG movies.

Edit: Dr. Strange, too. But, given that I know what Thanos did in the comics, I have a strong feeling that I know why this movie is a 2-parter, so I can kinda guess what happens to an extent.

Gaurdians stuff plays a huge role in this one. You can probably make do without Black Panther and Doctor Strange. Civil War introduces Vision who is another key character in this. And Infinity War opens literally where Ragnarok ends so I'd say that one is pretty important too.

I mean you won't be totally lost or anything but it'll be a bit confusing to follow. There is a lot going on in this movie.

In every era that it’s been successful, the Flyers pk has been aggressive. From Clarke to Barber to Poulin to Propp to Sutter to Brindamour to Podein to Gagne to Richards to Lappy to Couts and Read a few years back, the Flyers best penalty killers have always aggressively pressured the puck.

Just as importantly their best PK D from Van Impe, to Jimmy Watson to Howe to Marsh to Samuelsson to Desjardins to Therien to Hatcher to Coburn to Timonen and Pronger have always used a combo of strength, smarts, reach and skill to break up passes and clear the porch.

Add quality goaltending into the mix and you get a great PK.

You have to have the horses, that goes without saying, but you have to know how to ride them too. If they upgrade the talent but still use a passive, sagging pk, then Lappy, assuming he’s not just following the head coach’s directives, must go.

Thanks, this is what I was looking for. With 2 young kids, I don't get to see movies as often as I'd like. I'll try to On Demand a few.

IMO GOTG 1 and 2 are the best 2 Marvel Movies. And that is going some since I feel like the majority of them are all great.

You are really shorting yourself from a purely entertainment standpoint from not having seen them.

However, I think if you know the characters you will be able to enjoy Infinity War even if you haven't seen all the movies you mentioned. There will be some backstory you missed such as why is so and so character in that place and so forth and so on.

Vision was in Age of Ultron but otherwise I agree.

Beware, Thor:Ragnarok is a drag until the Hulk starts talking and then directly after he's done talking. Bring a pillow.

Yeah man, I have an odd reaction to some of the more popular comic movies. I thought it was a failed comedy. The first GotG is my favourite of the Marvel movies. I'm pretty sure I'm the only person who loved Suicide Squad. Dr. Strange was so boring I can't even remember the plot because I was up and moving around the house so much.

Im just guessing that the flyers are done with sam moran. If this is the case i will be beyond pissed off. He should have made the opening night roster over 3 of the dmen on the team.

Dr. Strange just seemed like a huge setup story for Infinity War. I love Cumberbatch as an actor. It wasnt a bad movie, it just played as a 2 hour introduction to the character, who I have no doubt will play a major role in IW since technically he is just about as powerful as any being in the Marvel Universe.....

I am 90% positive he will be a regular next season. This team needs a player like him on the back end. Big, mean, good skater, and plays a heavy game.

I completely agree but i have a feeling that if they make a trade at the draft he is going to be a part of it. I think it would be a big mistake but it doesnt seem like this coach likes big, mean players he wants all his players to play soft.

Maybe my problem is in the casting. Not a fan of Cumberbatch. It just never seemed to get off the ground and the make up on the movie's villain was just pitiful then whoa... we're running on buildings and that's pretty much what I remember.
