When the leafs were winning I called it that Bettman would step in. Those "4 on 4s" "coincidental minors" weren't really coincidence at all, it was Bettman knowing the Brooins had an advantage in those stat areas. Sorry leafs fans, victims to a business decision. - ifaughtthelaw
The Jets made it to the second round, just sayin'. |

Both matthews and nylander just lost cash.
Garbage
Our d was always bad...said it all season but lou just ignored me.
Fack you gardiner - Fakepartofme
I'm insure if Matthews had anything lingering injury wise. If not he needed to show up to play against the best. He's fantastic but if he can't take on the league's best centers then he's worthless |

I don't think management is going to make a move based on one game. If they did that, we'd be trading Andersen for Reimer
That being said, Gardiner has continually been hot/cold/mostlycold and it's time for him to go. We would be losing a lot of offense but we lack on the back end, but holy (frank), it's probably worth it. - UsernameUnknown
aside from the crap the bed factor tonight... Gardiner's contract will be up for renewal in July 2019... best time rid yourself of two potential problems - a player who statistically is better than he actually plays... and a contract issue.
There's lots of teams looking for offensive d-men... |

It’s no secret, teams dump the puck on his side, he either fumbles it, get stripped of it or gives it away.
5 years and he is still a bonehead on D. Enough of it. - LeafMan
Problem is he get's 35-50 points a year and our D may be mobile but aside from Rielly, they have a hard time putting up points. |

Way too many boneheaded plays by Gardiner tonight. But Andersen was weak on some of those goals. Like Krug's goal and Debrusk's 2nd goal |

I think the Leafs will be scary good next season. The youngsters hadn't experienced a heartbreak like this yet. It's almost a necessary thing to attain that FIRE that was lacking in the 3rd period. Lightning got it after two big disappointments - Bruins will be golfing after Tampa.
You guys worry me for next season, if you can fix your D problems. - GalacticStone
The Leafs are going to take a step backward before they can take a step forward. Linear improvement is rare among players and teams. The rest of the division isn't just going to remain stagnant and poopty. There will be more competition for 3rd place. And the Leafs are losing veterans, although not perfect, still dependable and most likely replacing them with unknown rookies. |

that 2nd round pick ends up being what? |
|
|
|
Nylander picked it up once he was removed from Matthews' line. - Aetherial
with his 1 goal you mean?
Nylander has been way worse than Matthews - at least Matthews was responsible on the defensive side.
That DeBrusk game was partly fault by Nylander making a really weak play in offensive zone.

They did nothing to help him but he didn't help himself either. Diving stick saves don't mean poop if you can't stop the easy saves. This is part of the reason why Anaheim may have gotten rid of him. He's very good but he's very streaky.
And for the love of (frank), get him a back-up so he doesn't have to play 66 games and face 2,200 (frank)ing shots. I've been saying it for months, the guy is probably exhausted having to stand on his head every damn game. If not physically, at the very least mentally exhausted.
Next year, Andersen should play no more than 55-60 games. Get a legit back-up, young, old, whoever, get somebody who is dependable to play 25-30 games, Cam Ward if you have to. |

Take out the ENG man... we lost 6-4 and we were in a back and forth. We got down two and folded. You give us some defence and yeah when you can score 4+ goals a game you will win more than lose. C'mon. - Roadrunner75
