Hainsey in the 5/6 spot is fine with me.. We can't have him on the top pairing again though.
Rielly - ?
Dermott - ?
Hainsey- Zaitsev - PatC80
The more I think about it.
The more Carlson makes sense for the Leafs. |

Hainsey looked really slow last night.
Leafs should continue with him as long as they get him on a reasonable deal and then ship him off once there's a kid who can take his place. Hainsey isn't the playoff answer, which is clear after last night. |

Yeah, I do as well. It may depend a lot on if they can finally get past pittsburgh. |

If there's one guarantee after this playoff run, it's that Polak will be back next year.
I've never been so certain of anything in my life. |

He's too old, man...
This isn't your fathers NHL. Everyone has to be able to get back into plays and defend man to man.. Hainsey is a good stick waver.. |

Nylander gets 5.25x6.
Lou says 'lookit, Pastrnak got 6.6, Kadri got 4.5, you're in the middle of the two of them' - TheMussel
Ya I would say that is fair.
Not sure what marner gets. Maybe 6x6 but I also assume he’ll wait the year and see if he can get the price up. |

the thing is Babs will play the poop out of some players like Hainsey and Polak. So its up to Management to give him better options. if he was used like a #6 then sure..but he that isnt what happened this season |

I honestly don't mind that. Gud pro.
We're playing Rielly/other guy 25+ mins a night starting next season. |

Reilly was good
Polak was good (as far as playing up to his potential)
Hainsey was just OK
Zaitsev was sometimes bad sometimes good (there was one point that I was yelling at the TV because he could have absolutely crushed a Bruin but decided to play with his stick instead)
Gardiner was infuriating as usual
Dermott needs to learn some poop

Gardiner and a 2nd in 2019 for Weber - TheMussel
You forgot to negotiate his wheelchair in the deal. That's where they're going to get us. |

We don't need a wheelchair.
We can rebuild him. We have the technology.

Very sorry Leaf fans for the loss. I have family in Toronto. Hopefully this opens the door for Lou to run the Isles. |

Would be a shame as Lou probably wants to run the show on his own and the Isles could give him that chance and his son works for the team. |

Garth Snow will run the Isles forever, even posthumously, as an idea/ideology rather than a person... kind of like Big Brother in 1984. |

Nothing would surprise me with the Isles. Plenty of good GM candidates available now even if you take away Lou and Garth is still GM. |

Leafs could have had this one, they wouldn't have necessarily deserved it but they could have hung in there. At least made a full 60 mins or more out of it. Instead Gardiner tries a 3 line pass and lets Boston walk in and score. Beer league plays in his own zone, I've been saying it all year. He can put up points, but it seems pretty clear that Babcock can't teach him how to defend. And after that abominable pass, he gets to play every other shift!! Only to give up a couple more. I don't blame Andersen, he did enough just getting us to game 7. At the end of game 6 it looked like the leafs D figured out how to make a breakout pass. Apparently that didn't transfer to the next game. I really hope that was Gardiner's last game as a leaf, complete choke artist. |

I fully expect Matthews and Marner to take long term contracts with the Leafs and get paid considerably. Their performances and importance to the team is undeniable, despite Matthews not performing in the playoffs for some reason.
As for Nylander, he had an OK season and difficult playoffs... I feel like it's in both his and the team's interest to sign a shorter term deal since a long term deal would both be a risk for the team and the money would be less than what he could potentially get. - Scabeh
So far it looks like Nylander will be the Bobby Ryan to Getzlaf and Perry. The Semin to Backstrom and Ovechkin. The James Neal to every team he's played for.
I think he will get paid about 5.5 for 3 years.
Marner gets given a 7+ million a year long term. Matthews gets given 9 - 10 million (really hoping he takes 9 for no good reason haha) |
