Oh joy Pens-Caps again, same ole same ole same ole situation.........

anyone else tired of this tune and yearly playoff series? Time for playoff format changes, division realignment....any/all the above?

Am I the only one that is going to tune this series out and wait for the next round?

- AlphaCharlie7

I say they just do away with the playoffs.

Fact of the matter is that a ton of stuff was being let go Game 6. Giroux's hit was borderline, but by the standards that game was being officiated on, it was a lot cleaner than half the stuff Letang did.

"Needless Hit" ???
Giroux caught Hagelin with his head down. There was nothing wrong with it.

He Clearly leaves his feet, which is wreckless and dangerous even for a sport like hockey. Does it happen elsewhere? Sure it does, but this time it resulted in an injury

Agree, and the series is over. Your team won, not sure why people are still arguing about it.

Feet come off the ice as result of the impact. This was always a common misconception with Kronwallian hits at the blue line.

It was a joke because someone was complaining about repetitive matchups which happen in every sport...

Oh lol. I didn't know if you were making the James Tanner playoffs are stupid because they're not indicative of the actual best team argument.

Lol no I can differentiate between an 82 game season with 30 opponents versus 4 7 game series against 4 top notch teams.

When I think of Giroux, the only thing that comes to mind is his one goal and two assists. His biggest moments in that series were two borderline hits. Way to go Claude.

It's pretty clear that he was affected by the two broken wrists he suffered due to Crosby's slashes.

I wouldn't say the contact was the probelm. Just the timing. The most frustrating part of the hit to me is that the NHL can and has issued suspensions for being this late. They give Letang a suspension 2 playoffs ago against the Caps because his hit was a little late and a little high. Do hits like this happen all the time? Yes, unfortunately because the NHL is terribly inconsistent. However, its clearly late. The puck was gone and Hagelin was already starting to skate up ice. There is no reason to expect a hit at that point.

Ryan said its a needless hit. That's well stated. Giroux wasn't separating man from puck. Hagelin passed the puck while he was still behind the net. Giroux had plenty of time to not hit him and did anyway just to hurt him. I'm tired of guys getting injuries just because a guy wanted to throw a hit outside the context of any hockey play.

Isn’t that a good thing??

.....and even better that Malkin injured himself trying a slew foot!

Now if someone would just run Crosby into the bench stanchion, and rub off that prebubescent beard he’s trying to grow, we’d have a trifecta of good things!!
