Yeah, Rick Nash may be the most overrated player in the league at this point. He hasn't had a good season for something like 3 years now. But he passes the eye test for a few games here and there.

I agree. I feel the same way about Couturier. Loading these guys up with pain killers or numbing an injured area is just criminal.

I take him at his word. He said if he can play, he is going to play. Old school mentality. Commended for his courage and competitiveness but not for his common sense!

- MJL

How is this courageous? He’s afraid to look weak? He’s afraid to miss game? It’s just stupid. Doctors need to stop being such pussies and tell the teams and players that they can’t play through this stuff. I kind of get it if it’s gutting it out for a couple of games, but playing an entire season?

I don’t know how it works, but for teams in general.

It’s the team that employs the doctor right?

Seriously? You don't think playing was painful with the injuries he had? I think you're wrong about the Doctor's also. That's not their job. Their job is to diagnose, treat, and offer options to the players. The final call is the players.

I think that is the glaring need they must do something about and the options aren't overwhelming. Bring back Filppula, step up Laughton or Lehtera or sign somebody like Bozak or Stajan. I'd take Filppula at the right term and still have money for a short term add on the wing. I think nature will take its' course with the D, another wing and Mr. Hart in net.

For all the folks screaming about dumping the vets now, look what TOR went out and did this year: added Marleau, Hainsey and Plekanec. Combined age? 110! Seems to be working OK at the moment.

they got all of one game further than the Flyers. no more Filppula please

Sure it would be painful. I’m guessing he was taking pain killers. This is how athletes get addicted to things like oxy.

Players are dopey kids. I’ve been there. The doc tells you you have a tear. The next thing you do is ask the doc if you can play on it. So what’s the doc say? Well, you can play on it, but it’s gonna hurt and you’ll be unstable and weak, but we’ll give you these pain killers and this brace and if you’re really tough you can play. If the doc had any balls he’d tell the player that there is no way he should play on it. Get it fixed now.

The goaltending was bad tonight. The loss wasn't on the vets they brought in. Besides, the Bruins have some greybeards themselves. You need some vets, the important qualifier being that they can still play.

Getting burned by DeBrusk on goal 5 had to have been tough to take if you were rooting for the Leafs. It was a soft goal too. Definitely should have been stopped.

I wonder how much laughing and joking Babcock did after this one. He might want to rethink the happy hour approach when you go into the third period in game 7 up a goal.

I can only assume Simmonds has been loaded up on painkillers since September. That's not going to be a fun detox.

Thought the young leafs had a real good series. Bruins, if they can get the goaltending have a real shot at the cup. But yes that leafs thread is ridiculous

a lot gets down to if they can injury get worse by playing. If the injury can't, then it is up to the player if they want to play and the coach if they think the player should and can help the team.

Concussions a way different story.

Leaf nation is furious today ( which i love). You know management will be looking for big time upgrade on D. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go hard after OEL, especially if ARZ lands #1 pick.
I would be afraid to trade with Leafs again...still having nightmares from the JVR trade.
