This.
iMO the hate for him posted on this board is unjustified.

Like Risto, he is a solid 2nd pairing...asking him to play on the 1st indicates the team is forcing another player to play one line higher than he should.

Even if they get lucky and get Dahlin, they still need a bonafide #2 partner for him, for the unit to be properly staffed.

Agreed. He's a fine defenseman. No need to run the guy out of town, he's a great middle pairing guy. Get one or two guys ahead of him on the depth chart (easier said than done) and all the sudden he's a great piece instead of a liability (playing over his head by necessity)

Mayars syndrome.

2 more days. It's driving me insane. All the rumors are bogus. Both the Sabres and the Bills keep an extremely tight lid on information. I don't know if you noticed, but there's been stretches all throughout the past couple months of "Bills really covet so and so" and each quarterback has been in the Bills' spotlight for about 2-3 weeks each.

Only one I think hasn't gotten the rumor was Jackson. Rudolph, Darnold, Allen, Mayfield, Rosen were all features in the "Bills love this guy the most" poop.

Any of the big 3 and it's a successful draft

That is true he did say he would dip in maybe he will see the price for John Carlson and end up going with a lower cap hit in Calvin de Haan
- gerbe75pts

We need LW depth. Give me Perron at a reasonable cap hit. Also gives my Myers jersey a purpose again since he wears 57 hahaha.

you willing to dish out $7m, or more, for Carlson?...or maybe the better question might be, is botts willing to dish out that kind of money for him?...or better yet, would he even sign in buffalo?

and, not so sure de haan would bump Scandella down

- Michael Pachla

I'd say there is 0% chance Carlson signs here, no way we are pulling in high end FAs after the seasons we've had

You are probably right but if we win the draft lottery it might be the thing that makes him listen

But I'll give this a 35% chance lol

Jvr would be sweet but we would have to move Kyle which I'm all for

Maybe Islanders will take him back

JVR is a one trick pony. His lack of speed will catch up to him in a couple of years and doesn’t use his size. Great around the net though. I really like the player, I just think 3 years from now he’s another boat anchor on this team

Perhaps. We haven't seen Botts give out any real UFA contracts yet, so I'm interested to see how he would handle one of those. If he has the foresight to not anchor the team to a player without long term value.

Holding him for another year and hoping he can rebuild some value seems more prudent. Retaining salary for that long, then bringing in another high price UFA just seems like a bad move for a team not ready to contend.

I question any athlete that's going to the highest $ to sign somewhere.

Wanting to win , has to be #1 in priority.

Financial security is important, but choosing between 6 or 7 million a year isn't "taking care of the family"

If he makes it to free agency, don't you think there's 25+ teams calling?

But when you’re going to draft a generational defenseman he might want to join

And having Jack Eichel on your team is not a bad thing

Hue Jackson, the 1-31 coach of the #Browns, has multiple mouthpieces in the media & can't be trusted by his own GM. You can't make this stuff up.

Zach Bogosian - D - Sabres
Zach Bogosian was Buffalo's nominee for the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

The award goes annually to the player who "best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy humanitarian contribution in his community." Bogosian has done charitable work through "The Bogo Bunch Foundation" since 2015. The NHL will narrow down the list to three finalists on April 30.

Jesus Christ

- SABRES 89

So the Sabres may win trophies for the nicest guy on and off the ice.

It's great what bogo is doing, but maybe we should try and sign some mean difficult to play against guys. Make it difficult to play at the key center
