I don't think PP success should be a prime factor, but he was the NHL's most productive Power Play producer, while putting up a decent amount of 5v5 points, and great possession stats despite playing with a total boat anchor.
I don't understand this all-or-nothing rush to evaluation. I definitely think that power-play points pad totals and that 5v5 scoring is a better evaluation tool. That doesn't mean I disregard everything else.

I don't know where you're getting that he was the league's most productive PP producer among defenseman. He was not. That was Shayne Gostisbehere.
