As much as I like Lee, I still worry about giving him a big money long term deal. I'd love for the Isles to be able to get DD from the KIngs.

Lee and a pick gets Doughty done?

Would be tough for the Isles to turn down. If JT comes back, Isles should still have plenty of offense without Lee and he might not be the same as Lee, but maybe Bellows could play a power forward role?

Off topic but;

The 29-year-old former 31st overall pick is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Edmonton Oilers with an AAV of $2.5mil per season.

What does it mean for the Islanders? It's simple - explore different options and in this case the newly crowned Gagarin Cup champion - Emil Garipov. The 26-year-old goalie who has been very consistent in his career and is looking to make the jump to North America. His contract with AkBars ends on April 30th and after the season he had - he will be sought after by NHL teams.

^^^ from Oilers blog, did team lose out on Koskinen now?
FYI to Piggy, he's worse than Nillson in G, sorry ...

Not upsetting if the Isles lose out on Koskinen. Isles need a sure fire #1.

I agree on the term, but not the money. What he does is worth every penny.

As far as defenders go, there is no way Doughty leaves the Kings. They’ll give him whatever is required to keep him.
The defenders I was thinking of were more along the lines of Parayko, Dumba or Brodin.

Huh.

Well he’ll probably be better than Brossoit or Montoya, so there’s that.

Rather have OEL, Doughty may take just a bit more ...

I know DD does not seem happy with the Kings in terms of not having enough speed. Would be tough to see the Kings deal him but you never know? The guys you mention would cost less for sure. Chief mentioned Brodin in the past. If Pulock continues to develop and you add one of these dmen and hopefully Toews works out, Isles could be much better on D and especially if they get a new coach.

Name 1 number one goalie who’ll be available?

I agree that the Islanders need a quality starter, but they’re bloody hard to find. I’m guessing Snow will target Elliott or Mrazek.

Truly Barzal was a shining light during a dismal season. But he ain’t really gonna impress me until he scores 40 goals.
- Wildschwein

Amazing how he just came outta nowhere (sarcasm). Somehow this Barzal kid who’s been compared to some of the best in the game just couldn’t crack Capuano and Snows lineup. Not like he’s just some random talent. He ripped up the rookie numbers on a sh!tty team. This organization will never see success until they get serious about who’s calling the shots.

I'm not sure how you saw enough of Kosiken to tell but I would not want him handed the #1 spot. Fighting for a backup spot would be fine.

Thank you sir. Personally I’ll be happy so long as he’s better than Brossoit.

Caps might have some goalies available? I'll take a very solid backup who might have the ability to be the #1 goalie.

If Holtby helps them advance, hard to trade him off since Grubeaur couldnt get it done in PO's.

It would be an improvement over this year. Time to move on from Halak. Greiss might need to stay as the backup? To be fair it's not just about the goalies. The dmen and system must improve as well.

Me too, though I’m not sure that duo would be worse than Halak and Greiss.

True. No goalie can stand up to nightly 45+ shot barrages.

Even Hank and Price would not last long with the same Isles D and system. Goalies have to be better but so does everything else. Forwards need to understand there is a dzone.

The walls of the Grand Canyon would wear down playing behind the Islanders defense

So then might one infer that you’d put an upgrade at D ahead of the upgrade at G?
