You're barking up the wrong tree trying to hit on Jero. You look like a Mexican, not a Thai tranny so maybe (frank) off.

You don't wanna move Nurse but you'd take Brown and a 1st for him? A young 3rd line winger and a mid-range 1st?
- MaximumBone

I don’t view Brown as a 3rd line winger. I think he’s played as one because Toronto is deep on wing, and Babcock has a hard-on for Hyman.

You can get more for Nurse.
- Aetherial

Not with our current GM I’m afraid. He’d probably give you Nurse for Kapanen and Carrick.

We’ll agree to disagree on that one. Brown is a smurf and a third liner.

Believe me when I say I'm a big fan of his (been pushing for him since last season) but no matter how you look at it, 70 points in 171 games as of age 24 aren't numbers indicative of a significant top-6 winger. Considering that production and his skillset, we're likely looking at a Cogliano; still an excellent player that I would love to have flanking Connor or Leon.

So how I see that trade is sending Nurse- a young top-4 Dman that just led our team's backend in EV offense- for a redo on Cogliano and the ~20th pick. Seem fair given that context?

No no no. He never trades our less proven players for under-market value; he'll trade Klefbom for Kapanen because he only does 1-for-1s.

Same can be said for Nurse and Klef.
- Iggysbff

To a point. My only worry with Sekera is at his age and the injury he may start dropping off sooner than later. Would just be cautious about dealing Klef or Nurse unless we were getting a real stud right shot

You are worried about Sekera's injury and not concerned about how big of a (frank)ing bandaid and piece of glass that Klefbom has been?

Not sure the overall impact and all moves, but hearing EDM assistant coach Jay Woodcroft will become head coach at AHL Bakersfield.

Phase One of EDM (assistant) coaching shuffle expected, perhaps as early as Friday. Multiple moves, including (as has previously been speculated) Jay Woodcroft to be new head coach in Bakersfield (AHL). No replacement hiring(s) just yet.

Sounds like things are finally happening

Trent Yawney as D coordinator and Paul Coffey (hopefully someone with more coaching experience, but Oilers) as O coordinator?

Why do we always reward failure in this organization? Guy should’ve been outright poop canned, not repositioned in the organization

As long as there's new assistants coming in to provide new and more successful ideas, then I'm content enough to give it chance. I maintain Todd's breakout strategies are still a significant hurdle facing this team but seeing how Johnson was the defensive coordinator, I'm willing to concede that he MAY have played a part in that.

There exists a benefit in getting a Todd choice in as AHL head coach as it'll create consistency throughout the organization. Players will know how they're expected to play in the NHL when they're called up which will (hopefully) make for an easier transition from the AHL for prospects and call-ups.

I just don’t like seeing guys kept around that did a poor job in one role already. It doesn’t set a very good example. Let’s people know that failure is OK.
