Okay, I'm sorry, but in response to yesterday's tragedy in Toronto, it bothers me when the government says "Mental illness, not terror, a leading theory for today’s incident."

If it caused people to be terrified, then it was a terrorist action. What they really are saying is "He doesn't seem to be a religious extremist," because only they are capable of being terrorists.

And now back to our regularly scheduled female doging.

Holtby is playoff tested, so I would be interested. May have to look like a Martin Jones 3 way trade to get done. Elliott is a fine tandem guy at this point in his career, but to carry the load, no thanks. I want to give them the best chance to make the playoffs again next season. In a lot of ways, they got lucky making the playoffs using 4 goalies.
- ravishingone

He is playoff tested, but he still never won anything playing behind a perennial Presidents Trophy contender. I am in no way saying he would not be a great improvement over what we have now.

also would love to hear an explanation from the nhl on that tripping non call
- bulet13

Probably would have a similar explanation to why Voracek didn't get called for straight-up punching Guentzel in the head to start the third period with the ref standing right next to him.

Let's see here: Lyon didn't look spectacular in his starts with the Flyers. He could get better, but we don't know. Stolarz is still recovering from major surgery and we have no idea what the future holds. Will he recover? Sandstrom is still signed for another year beyond this one with his team in the SHL. The two Russian goalies, I'll admit I don't have much info on. Hart is still a few years away. Expecting Elliott to play more than 45 games is too much to ask given his history and Neuvirth is Mr. Glass, so where does that leave the Flyers with the goaltending for the next couple of years? Up $hit's creek without a paddle!

That was an embarrassing end to a very annoying season. If Hak is back I won't be watching in 18-19. This team has no chance of real success with him as coach.

Hart is 20. He may be closer than we think.

But overall your points are well taken.

All kidding aside, if it took Simmonds and Elliott to bring back a guy like Dubnyk, I'd do the deal. Simmonds, without question, is entering the downside of his career and having a legit #1 goalie like Dubnyk who is signed to a reasonable cap hit of 4.5 million for the next 3 seasons, would make everything that ails this team better. Fewer weak goals, instant improvement on the PK.

The added confidence that I believe the team would have playing in front of guy like Dubnyk would also be huge and it allows Neuvirth to be what he should be at this point, a backup starting 20-22 games.

It's a hell of a lot easier to replace a middle six winger like Simmonds than it is to find a legit #1 goalie.

also, someone mentioned BSH Radio....i just found their podcast like a month ago and i really enjoy it. i don't always agree with what they are saying, and i don't know their names (i affectionately refer to them as "the lead one, the angry one, the nerdy one, and the other one) but it's a fun program.

any other Flyers podcasts? they usually are the most fun during the offseason, trade deadline, and losing streaks, but good to hear some Flyers talk with people who aren't the idiots on WIP.

Agree there is risk, but I just want to give this team the best chance to be perennial Cup contenders. Maybe Hart and Sandstrom can do this? Realistically, I don't want to see them wait 2 years to start finding out the answers. I have zero Faith in Stollie, Lyon, and Neuvy.

So if the Flyers don't get Tavares, which is what I would like, you think the Flyers guys like Ryan Strome or Sam Bennett could be options. Both were high picks with high expectations when drafted but could they slot in as a 3rd line center and maybe flourish with a little less expectation on them?

Again not sure cost but seem like they cold be options.

Also someone mentioned what if Tavares went to Toronto. What move would they make to free up money. If that happened I would love to get my hands on Kadri. He would be awesome as a 3rd line center. He and Couturier could cause fits with matchups.

Well, since Ryan Strome is just as good as Jordan Eberle...

Honestly, I have no interest in Strome. Bennett is more like it.

I got into it myself not too long ago. Another one I listen to is Flyperbole but pretty sure it’s still under BSH Radio. Sons of Penn have one, Bill will hop on Broadcaster Roundtable and also Flyers Radio 24/7 Podcasts. All good stuff with good personalities imo.

If Minnesota offered Dubnyk for Simmonds + Elliot and nothing else I'd do that deal in a heartbeat. I'm highly doubtful that would happen though.

You mean like Bobrovsky? Or Quick? Or Rask? Or Price? Or Lundqvist? How about Dubnyk, Gibson, and Bishop?
- jmatchett383

What are you trying to say? Elliot and Neuvy were good in the playoffs this year? While not the whole problem the goaltending was a good part of the problem losing to the pens.

I'd go bigger:

To Minnesota: Simmonds, Elliott, Rubstov, 2018 STL first.
To Philly: Dubnyk, Kunin

You get a goalie and 3rd line center.

To Montreal: Simmonds + 2018 1st (STL) + 2019 1st + Elliot + Giroux + Morin + 5th Round Pick + Goulbourne

To Philadelphia: Price + Petry + 7th Round Pick

Yeah, I don't think Hak is going anywhere.

Furthermore, I'm guessing in the executive suites, this season will be considered a successful one for the coach.

Yeaa I mentioned earlier that if they sign JT and with Matthews needing a contract soon, they're not going to be able to keep Nylander and Marner. I'd be willing to package one of Sanheim, Morin, Myers, Hagg for one of them.

That's hilarious. You know what's even more hilarious???

Remember when no one ever showed up to Penguins games? The fans were fair-weather to the point that their all-time great, hockey legend/owner was ready to move the team across the country just to get away from the female dog ass fans that live there?

Anyways, congrats on the series win and your recent cups. You can go back to pretending like the Pens don't exist with the rest of your city when Sidney retires in 3 years.
