Is that what he is doing? Everyone here but you apparently, knows they are placeholders. - MBFlyerfan
A placeholder to what? Hart is a great prospect, but that is what he is a prospect.
So the plan is to keep a revolving door of bums in net and just hope Hart is great?
If that is the plan, it's a dumb one. |

I don;t know if he shrinks or if the team around his is just overrated. I honestly thought the current Columbus team was good enough to finally get over the hump. They still haven't won more than 2 games in a playoff series. - nastyflyergirl
It's because they drafted Dansk and Korpisalo ahead of Matt Murray, obviously.
Somehow, that is the Flyers' fault, because only they would have drafted a goalie ahead of Murray in that draft. |

Who do the Ducks have in their system? I'd love to try to pry Gibson from them. - jmatchett383
dont know but the last I looked they were ranked around 26th in the league for farm systems |

I thought the Jackets were improved. I thought they would win this series even before they won the first two games in DC. I don't know what the issue is. Maybe he's worn down when the playoffs begin. He has a huge workload during the season. Or maybe he just can't handle the pressure. Not sure what the issue is. |

So should we go grab some UFA defensemen since guys like Morin, Sanheim, and Myers are just prospects? I mean, just hoping they can be good/great in the NHL seems like a pretty dumb plan, right? |

I don't have any faith in Morin being anything. He just had a wasted season due to injury. Is he going to be an NHL regular this upcoming season? I don't know that.
The Flyers already have Provorov and Ghost in place. Sanheim and Hagg appear to be potential second pair players. There are 4 pretty good players already in place. They can supplement the talent they already have on the blueline. Putting all your eggs in one basket when it comes to goaltending is a short sighted foolish plan. Hart may be two years away, and when he does arrive there will be growing pains. So just throw the next few years away with goaltenders you know have zero chance to excel in the playoffs? That is what is dumb. |

The same Holtby that just helped Washington get back into and win the series last night? Not sure why Washington would be looking to move him esp if he finally helps get them past the Penguins - nastyflyergirl
he might want out after they relegated him to backup duties to start the series |

gotta agree with the clown on this one
1c, 1d, and goalie are the most important positions in hockey. we have the first two and this team showed this year thats its almost ready. a good goalie for 3 years is more than just an insurance plan |

Eh. When you have 3-4 prospects in one position the risk is less and you’re more likely to hit on one or 2 of them. Completely different paths for goalies vs defenseman as prospects as well. Morin and Sanheim were both 1st rounders so I feel they are pre-labeled as NHLers with their draft position. |

Goalies are just hard to project too. Forwards and defensman are a little easier to get a read on what might happened compared to goalies. |

Even if Hart is the real deal, there's no way in hell that Hexy lets him play for the big club without at least a full season in the AHL. That leaves the Flyers with at least another season or two with $hit goaltending with the current netminders. Hexy needs to fix it ASAP. |

I'm not sure they put all their eggs in one basket, they drafted more than one goalie over the years. |

Well, since they are both only signed through next season, that would seem to be the plan.

For sure, and don’t the flyers have a poor history of missing on high-ish drafted goalies? Not saying will happen to Hart but you never know with a prospect. Having said that, every analyst or scout is very high on Hart. |

If they cant trade Nuevirth, I see them signing a veteran to share time for the season after. I don't see Elliot being traded. And he may very be that veteran we speak of after next season.
Either way, it will be the last season we see one or both of them.
They are putting a LOT of faith in Hart for sure.

Revolving door of goalies in the playoffs is the answer!!! 40+ year Cup drought coupled with 6 years without a playoff series win.
Other than the dreadful Sabres, and Canucks start rattling off the teams in this category. Can't wait for the list!!! |

Here's a thought....As the team improves with better team defense then couldn't the goalie look better?
i know hart is the future but I think with Elliott playing like he did early in the season and better team defense and defenders things will look different next season. |

With the Caps how much is it going to cost to keep Carlson? They already have a lot of money and years tied to an aging core, in theory they could save money by moving Holtby and go with Grubauer. |

Question i posed on twitter.....Giroux is taking heat for his last two playoff series (and he must be better) overlooking his previous playoffs. what would the narrative be for Bob in philly with his playoff performances? - nastyflyergirl
