I think 1 or 2 trades are made and he signs “right” pieces. Not Star players such as Tavares. Tavares is this off seasons shiny new toy (and understandably so) but I rather spread the wealth so our young guns are taken care of soon. - arichardson22
I'd like to see him get a 3rd line center, that's about it. |

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed and calling for Hexy's head sometime around late July. - MJL
That's what was starting to happen in Winnipeg until seven years of drafting and EXTREME patience on Chevy's part paid off and they are now looking like a great hockey team. |

Agreed. He'll sit on his hand per the usual and use all his draft picks. Sooner or later, he's going to have to sh*t or get off the pot when it comes to trades and a big UFA signing. - aantny88
I think there are some RFAs he could "poop" on, but I expect him to "get off the pot" for the UFA class. |

Same thing happened in LA. Fans were calling for Lombardi's head. I predicted a few years ago that fans will lose patience with the plan. I expect more and more impatience and calling for a GM change. |

I think there is always the possibility of a trade but I doubt he goes on a free agent spending spree.
I don't think they will be involved in making an offer to Taveras. - MJL
They have the money to do so, but eventually, they are going to want to pay guys like Konecny and Provorov. |

Yeah Winnipeg is a good example of what Hextall would like to do, but they built their defense differently. |

While I don't expect him to reach that level, I think Konecny makes a major offensive jump next season along with Patrick. Flyers have plenty of offensive fire power. They just need to improve through the roster.

Had 1 of these about the same size come at me a few years back.
I woke up to get my new born from her cot around 1am to give to my wife to breast feed, our lamp was on & I looked up past my wife In bed who had just started feeding my little girl & saw 1 big hairy leg followed By another big (frank)ing hairy leg coming out from behind our window blinds right next to the bed. My wife saw my look & looked up & saw the big fella come right out & poop hit the fan!!
I got up & quickly grabbed a dustpan to try & get it out of the bedroom so I could get him outside & as I put the dustpan up to get it the (frank)er jumped down at me so I quickly tried to hit it which cut a leg off, then it had the choice to disappear behind some drawers or turn & try & punch on with me. The (frank)er ran at me so fast I poop bricks & just took a couple of air swings while retreating until it got so close to me I put it to sleep! (frank) me, talk about a tough female genitalia! (Not me I poop!). Fought till death the poor bastard.
They are lightning fast, but not sure a bite Fromm them will Do much. Now Funnel webs, they're a completely different beast. Those (frank)ers will kill you & take pleasure in doing so!
First of all, kudos to you on not burning the house down, which would be the logical choice.
Secondly, there's no way I'd punch it, that's too much bare skin coming into contact with that hell beast. I'd smash it with a hockey stick (which I did when a bat flew into my bedroom) or at least find some large blunt object to end it with.
The fact that you attempted to put such a fiend into an escapable pod such as a dust pan makes me question your sanity. |

I remember, people were calling for his head and then suddenly they made a run and won two Cups, funny how people's opinion's can change quickly |

Flyers fans have been trained to expect change and to go for it every year. I've wanted them to build from the draft for years. Now that they are doing it I find myself loosing patience. If it takes 7 years I'll loose my poop!!! |

So if Tavares were to go to Toronto would anyone be willing to package a defensive prospect for Marner or Nylander? I don't believe they'd be able to retain both after signing JT and Matthews needing a new contract. |

But signing Tavares at say 8.5-9 million doesn't change the plan in my view. You can purge away a contract like Voracek if needed when the time comes to pay someone like konecny. Also in a vcoracek deal you recoup some picks or prospects in restock at some places.
I think this is one of those rare times you can get a superstar without making a trade. LA traded for Carter and Richards to be pieces to put them over the top. tavares is just money.
I don't see how Tavares stops you from the draft and develop path. |

Building through the draft for the most part landed them the team that won 2 Cups and the Keenan teams that would have won a Cup in many eras. I'm willing to be patient, I just want to see them move an asset or two to fill gaping holes such as starting goalie and 3C.

That you know of. Hextall's been building through the draft for four years now, he's amassed some great young kids, a couple more years of this and hopefully it starts to come together. |

The 3C hole is the one they might have the most trouble with. I think they are going to need a trade to deal with that one, unless they suddenly view Laughton or even Vecchione as an answer, down the middle, for their bottom 6. |

A great article today over on the Athletic....sums it up perfectly on the subjects of Hak and Hex. While some view hextall's rebuild as "always two years away from contention", The Flyers have both cap room and assets to build a contender now. That doesn't mean you trade youth for over priced vets, but it does mean you can upgrade the complimentary vets you now have. They brought up the fact that it's hard to judge Hakstol when Hex really hasn't done a lot to get him a a more competitive roster to play with. It is a big off season for Hextall. Be interesting to see how he progress's from here.
