Year three of five

Dump Gudas, Manning, Mrazek, Filppula

I really don’t care how.

- wbon22

Mrazek is very likely gone

so that leaves you with 2/4

Crosby outscored Giroux 13-3 in the series. No other analysis is necessary. When the oppositions top player eats your top player alive you don’t have a chance.

The egregious turnovers, terrible penalties and sub par goaltending are why the defeats were non competitive

Big props to Coururier. Playing the last two games and coming up enormous with a torn MCL shows so much leadership, heart and guts. Also kudos to Provorov giving it a go with with one arm. He’s going to be a great one.

I guess the big question is what’s changing with the goaltending next year? Having a revolving door in net when it comes playoff time is getting really old.

I’ll settle for 2nd best player in the world

Single handed throws the game away when it was 4-2 and doesn’t even take any accountability. Yeah (frank) that guy.
He better not be on the team next year

I would give an A to Couturier once Filppula departs
- nastyflyergirl

I’d pin it on him when he was leaving the arena tonight. How many players would just call it a season with that injury. He not only played he scored the GWG in game 5, and then put up 5 points today. That’s incredible. That kind of effort and commitment commands a ton of respect.

So the result of the mrazek trade is we give up a 2018 3rd and that’s it?

Man up and face the media. it's part of your job. He was a good player last season. WTF happened this year?

Far from second...the second best player in the world puts up more than those pedestrian numbers. He wouldn't even be the second best player on the pens. That goes to malkin.

Yeah just a 3rd

After the terrible play in goal I thought no way he doesn't play a few games and maybe catch fire. Apparently philly is ok with terrible play in goal

He was as bad as Elliot when he played in the regular season.

I don’t want Elliott back next year. I don’t give a (frank) what they say about his respect in the locker room, to me he lost that with some of his comments following the losses in this series. Guy couldn’t make one big save, repeatedly let up back breaking goals, and has the audacity to more or less blame the guys in front of him.

I know these post game interview mainly consist of canned generic responses, but to me what he said was garbage. Even if part of it was true, it pisses me off.

And it’s not as though he’s been a playoff nightmare for opposing teams. He’s flat out sucked in the playoffs. Good riddance (please).

Anyone find voracek yet? I know he played the regular season. Someone reason no one wants to call him out. I am more disappointed in him then a 3rd pair defenseman like manning.

He handles the puck like it’s a grenade. He’s dumb as a lamp post. And he routinely goes for the big hit that leaves in way out of position. I have no doubt his lack of awareness caused the Couturier injury in practice.
I want that guy gone so bad. I’d rather have Manning back than him.

Elliott had a couple of solid playoff seasons in St. Louis. I think if he didn't get injured or the timing of it had been better, he would've played better. I have no problem with Elliott back next season.

They got pretty much nothing out of Giroux, Voracek, and Simmonds. Simmonds I’ll give a pass to because I’m sure we will find out soon he was playing with an injury that needs surgery.

Yeah I don't doubt that! Lol. But he has shown he can catch fire at any point. But we will take the 3rd for his sorry ass. We need all the help we can get

I think he’ll be back....they just need to have a more solid partner. I am not going to make excuses like some will.....he sucked. Maybe he’s better suited for a back up roll at this point in his career. I would think with this years performance in the playoffs and last years performance in the playoffs, that’s enough for Hextall to again look to address the crease.

Has any team ever in playoff history given up 8 goals and won the game? I can't think of one time that's worked.

We are trying to sell our house near the beach in LA (think: about a mile above the Baywatch beach for those old enough to remember). I accidentally hit button 5 on my sat radio and the game came on and it was 4-4 after two. poop. I needed to kill about three hours before I could go home to watch the epic win right? After letting my 6 year old drive the golf cart all over Riviera CC while we played about 4 holes in no specific order, I got the urge to check my phone. Then I got the urge to puke.

You can't give up 8 goals and expect anything other than to lose in the playoffs. Sorry.
