Provorov and Coots need to wear the As next season. Simmonds and MacDonald are good soldiers but the generals need to be represent going forward.

Because when he was "tripped" instead of violently falling straight to the ground he jumped while flopping through the air.

Coots embellished it bad. They both should have been taken off or don’t call either. They chose not to call either

Coots has never been a diver, Letang DID take out Coots feet. Did Coots dive a little? Maybe, but he deserves the benefit of the doubt

So after that wonderful day yesterday I will just drop a few thoughts...

1) Coots should have Filp's A next year but I don't see him ever being C.

2) Provy is the next C. That kid shows what a true genuine warrior he is and the dedication to preparation in the off season can not be understated.

3) I'm not blaming Neuvy for that game. It was a offensive display of defense by the Defense corps.

4) G's hit was a clean crazy hit. Kessel needs to rethink that choice of going after G.

5) Coots getting tripped was scary as hell.

6) Morin has to be here next year. I can't wait to see what he does and with it Manning will be gone which Bill alluded to.

7) Filp and Leier should not be brought back.

8) Figure out the goalie carousel before Hart or Sandstrom is here.

9 I am wondering how many will be reported as having long term nagging injuries during this season.

- dragonoffrost

1&2) Yup, I see Provy as the future captain as well, with Coots and Patrick the alternates

3) Agreed, other than the rebound that led to the first goal, those goals weren't on the goalie. Sure, you'd like a goalie that can make a couple of stellar saves and stop a few of those, but no goalie would have looked good playing behind that D yesterday.

4&5) Kessel did what he thought he had to do to fire up his team, however, as you pointed out, the hit was absolutely clean, unlike what Letang did to Couturier. The Flyers should send that in to the league (not that they'll do anything), that was a flagrant attempt to injure another player.

6) Hell yeah!

7) Yeah nor, in a perfect world, should Gudas at least one of Elliott/Neuvirth, Lehtera, Weise, Manning or Read.

8) Finding a better starter to pair with either of the returning vets next year would really help this team take the next step towards being a contender. Expecting anything out of Hart before 19-20 is very likely wishful thinking. Something needs to be done to improve the position now.

9) Simmonds for sure and I have to wonder about Jake too, he just didn't seem himself when it came to his skating or winning puck battles during this series.

I can understand him getting called for embellishment, though I would bet it has more to do with not wanting his legs chopped out from under him with a torn MCL. Either way, playing on there was just absurd

Jets and Preds is going to be a hell of a series.
- flyer_nutter

Yup, I think the winner of that series, assuming they can come out of it reasonably healthy, is the likely Cup winner. My money is still on the Preds, they were my pick when the playoffs began and I see no reason to change it now.

Seriously, that is all we asked from the guy. Why hasn't he been that player all along?

Weise played like the Weise we signed up for yesterday. Very noticeable physically, not a liability.
- jmatchett383

Yeah, he's usually good for about one decent game out of every 20 or so. I still hope they jettison his ass before the next season starts.

Speaking of embellishment... was the call on Jake yesterday legit? I didn’t have a clear view from my seat and the replay didn’t look like much either.

Agreed. It looked really bad. Not sure if he was trying to draw the penalty or trying to save his knee

I picked Tampa Bay vs. Nashville at the beginning of the season.

That’s fine. I also wonder he jumped as a defensive mechanism to his knee to not get it planted or hit into the boards and take on further injury

I know Jake doesnt hit but he had some chances to really rub some guys out and always turned away, I hope he is ok but if he is, Hak needs to sit him down and show him the film.

Plenty of goalies out there that can upgrade the Flyers. We need D with reach, Morin, Sanheim and Myers. All of them need to get their fitness at peak levels this summer, it would be nice if Sanheim put on 10 pounds. For the love of God either trade Gudas or don't sign Manning. If Manning is signed, he will play a minimum of 60 games. To many average Joe's in the 6 D.

I disagreed with it. I didn’t see the embellishment myself. It was nowhere near as bad as Crosby going down in Game 5 put it that way.

for over a decade i had to cringe with the "Crosby Sucks" chants...because he doesn't suck, ya know?

x100

It's enough already. I don't even think this can be considered a theory, because the numbers support it: he kills Philly in their building because of the boo's and chants. It fires him up. Best to just let him go about his business like we do every other player that comes into the WFC. Maybe when the crowd doesn't pay as much attention to him, he will lose a bit of that edge. I don't know, just spit balling here.

Same. Jake was clearly interfered with, but I guess he did that "slide down to the ice when someone leans on you" thing that 87 gets away with all the time, and he got nailed.
