Manning will move on this summer. He hinted recently that he isn't expecting to be back. Didn't say it in so many words, of course, but said he was playing for a contract. Most of the time, that means the agent talked the GM and informed his client there was no offer of an extension.

I really wouldn't mind seeing Hakstol go and the Flyers get a true NHL coach. I would like to see them get a coach that was never part of the Flyers organization, except for maybe Brind'Amour? Lappy and the other bench coaches must go,too.

- Thors-Hammer

So Hakstol isn't a true NHL coach?

Manning played 65 games each of the last two seasons. I want to see the other franchise that is going to put him on the ice 130 games over the next two years. I have a feeling it will be similar to the situation with VDV. Guy didn't get a sniff. Defense is a more premium position than a 4th line winger, so he may catch on with a team as a 7th dman, but there is zero chance he will be a regular elsewhere.

My only wonder is whether he'll have an easier or harder time finding another full-time NHL job than Chris VandeVelde did.

I think part of it is also that Manning wants to be an everyday player. I don't think that option is available to him here next season.

Well I guess that will elate the masses.

I wonder if they look for a FA or go in house for a 7th type. Could Gudas be your 7th if Morin and Myers make the roster? Or is that too much money for a guy that might sit a stretch of games before playing another?

I wonder if this is the off season Hextall gets creative as I see the window starting to open.

Can someone answer this for me:

Why is Crosby allowed to line up for the face off illegally almost every single time he's at the dot? His goal yesterday was off a faceoff he won while being turned to his right before the linesman even had the puck hanging over the dot. His right skate is nearly between the lines behind him. Why is this allowed? The rule states you must be squarely facing your opponents end of the rink.

I know, who cares, it's over, that's not why they lost the game, etc.. but wow does it bug me.

I've been in men's leagues games where I'm told to line up better before a draw.

The key to next year is to get better offensively and defensively.

From a penguins perspective, Couturier should have the "C", Giroux was a no-show, cheap shotting female dog, that literally flopped to the ground when (frank)ing phil kessel came over to him...but then again couturier had his fare share of flops as well...at least he scored.

He said "scored". Uhhh huhh uhh huhh huh.

Yeah yeah scooored. Hee hee hee hee.

Man I knew gudas would get it today but it has been relentless. 2 bad turnovers at the wrong time that went into the back of the net....I get it. Besides that he was all of a -1 in the series.

We knew we’d have to score goals against this team. When your supposed best forward, captain, and recently voted defenseman of the year go a combined -21 and spearhead an ice cold power play all series long. That is not going to help your team against the 2 time defending champs.

Gudas was gudas all series long. He at least had a great game in game 5 and was relatively stable all series long before yesterday.

The top players and leaders on this team didn’t get it done at all and the execution level was horrendous. Ghost was far worse than gudas in this series. Tough pill to swallow but it’s true.

- Just5

This is fair

Can't beat a good team with the way Giroux, Ghost and Voracek played

I defend them a lot because they are very good players. But you just about can't win a seven-game series with the way they played

Will always respect how hard he worked as an undrafted player to make it. Those guys are almost always fighting an uphill battle

But it's time for the Flyers to upgrade wherever they can

Manning will definitely find a landing spot.

There are worse defensemen in the league than Brandon Manning. Manning is only 27 with over 200 games of NHL experience. He does a little of everything, but nothing especially well. He'll come cheap. Ideally, he's a 7th, but you can make due with him as bottom pairing guy with the right partner.

I won't begin to guess what's going to happen with our goalie situation, but I just hope Carter Hart is the real deal and gets to the NHL faster than expected? Murray is only 23 years old and he's won 2 cups and is trying for his 3rd. Hart will be 20 years old in August, so playing a very young goalie is not unheard of any more.

Let's hope Hexy makes some good moves this off season? Fingers crossed.

- Thors-Hammer

It's also important to remember Murray took the job from Fluery, not Elliott or Neuvirth. Hart will be a pro next year. He will get starts with the Flyers. Can't say how many but he'll get some. The job is to stop pucks. The pucks don't care who stops them or how old the goalie is.

The Flyers have assigned Oskar Lindblom and Travis Sanheim to the Phantoms. Both are eligible to play in the Calder Cup playoffs. Phantoms are tied 1-1 with Providence in best-of-five series. Rest of series is in Allentown.

Are you sure? How many pucks have you asked?
