And can you believe he refused to talk to the media after the game. He left his teammates to clean up his mess. All he had to do is make simple plays and we are probably getting ready for a game 7. Zero accountability from this guy. I'd rather have Manning back next year if I had to decide between the two players.
- PLindbergh31

i agree. It's a gutless puke move. Face facts, other players made terrible decisions that led to goals but the timing and the nature of his gaffes justifiably make him a scapegoat. He needed to step up and accept it and not let Provorov sit there and talk to the media. Kid played with one wing, coughed up the puck that gave the Pens the lead but he answered every question. I dont care if they get a parking voucher for him, he never puts on that jersey again

Provorov has future captain written all over him after that imo.

Got it.

I think with a full off season they will be able to put things together.

Let’s hope so! Myers is also very interesting, I know it’s been mentioned before, but didn’t Gordon say Myers was ahead of Sanheim in his development in terms of time spent w Phantoms? I know he missed some time (again) from injury but if he can push for a spot too that’s crazy. Also makes me wonder if one d prospect could get moved alone or even in a deal with Simmonds to land a really prized player. we also have 2 1sts to draft new d prospect(s) if one is moved. Having said that, I rather keep all of our D prospects.

I know there will be a lot of talk this off-season about hypotheticals, etc.

I would just really like to see Konecny in a permanent top 6 role next season. He is so much more than a 3rd line pest. Give him skilled guys to work with, I dont want him saddled with having to carry a line.

- flyer_nutter

I think he should've played with Giroux and Coots. That one still bothers me

I don't think you have to worry about that. It was a move to create scoring depth. When they have more depth you'll see him in a top 6 role. But as they get more depth i don't care what line he is one as the top 9 should be scoring threats.

The Penguins during the season had 3 guys with 30 goals on 3 different lines.

I mean I want a forward more than defense as well, more so a 3C than winger, but I’m having trouble seeing coaching and management roll with all of Hagg, Morin and Sanheim next season when two of them simultaneously couldn’t crack the lineup this year. Who knows if the situation would have been worse if Morin actually was healthy and stayed up.
- arichardson22

the problem is there are really no SUPER upgrades from Flip in FA....a trade could be the way they get something as far as a 3C.

there are some wings that could be had for the 5mil range. Nash can't be getting much more than that right now? teams will over-pay for JvR and Kane, then the other dudes are gonna go fast (Neal..ugh, Nash, Perron (if Neal gets resigned)

i guess Kovalchuk is definitely a Ranger for JvR/Kane money?

either way, like someone mentioned elsewhere Frost is the only difference maker at the forward position....sorry i'm still not sold on Lindblom being more than 3rd line forward. they have plenty of "middle 6" projections in Ratcliff and Allison (if he gets healthy and progresses).

if you get rid of Voracek, you have an even BIGGER hole at wing, and while Simmonds probably is nursing an injury, he's still not a 5 on 5 killer in the top 6.

Yup. I really dont think its all that crazy to say thats a big reason why the line struggled was Konecny coming off of it.

The Raffl in top 6 thing needs to end. Hes a fourth liner on most playoff teams.

I’m with you, the biggest question is who fills the 3C role? Honestly, I’d reach out to Buffalo, assuming they don’t land the first pick overall which they wouldn’t move, and see if Jake and the 14th pick can land them ROR and Buffalo’s 1st which would be 2nd, 3rd or 4th overall.

They fill their hole at 3C and hopefully add another key spot at forward with the pick.

Between Provy, Couts, Patrick and even TK, we have a hell of a leadership core for the future no doubt.

there might be a time you move one to get a winger. I woldn't be against it but the player coming back would need to be a youngish nhl player with a high upside.

I dont see them dealing Jake/G. Personally I think they try to keep Simmonds as well.

As one core ages it is replaced by another.

I feel Montreal could a partner. You've seen my proposal.

To montreal: Voracek, STL 2018 1st rounder
To philadelphia: Galchenyuk, Byron, Montreal 2018 1st rounder, 2018 4th rounder.
montreal should be in top 4 so you get either Tkatchuk, Zadina or Svechnikov

Dude...Hakstol moved Giroux to wing. He obviously doesn't make bad decision.

Its the goaltending in my eyes. I have zero faith in any of them. Dont see many options outside of waiting for Hart unfortunately.

The Jake thing is a tough question. I think he is a skilled guy, that can really help you win a cup. A top 6 player. Poor playoff showing yes, but its a big hole to fill. Outside of G, Konecny, Patrick, Couturier and Voracek - its kind of a bunch of neanderthals when it comes to puck skill up front.

(too early to call Lind, and I like him)

Depends on where the Habs 1st ends up, it could be as low as 7th. If I’m moving Jake and a 1st, I want the pick coming back no lower than 4th.

You think that Jake and a mid-rounder can get you Galchenyuk and a top-4 pick plus? I love Jake, but I think it would take more from the Flyers.

I have no issue with a move like that if it happens. It's just strange timing to me.

The time in my eyes for moving Jake was before this season. The team is on the upswing, is the club willing to take another *(likely) step back? I dont know if I see that.

At the end of the day I think we see a very similar group next year, with Manning as the 7th.

the more i'm looking at the prospects, i think you keep both as well. the draft will be interesting tho!

despite his obviously debacles in the playoff series and much of the year, with him being a RH shot Gudas still has trade value IMO. not sure his return, but if packaged with one of those picks it could get something of need for this team. even with his deficiencies he's a 3rd pairing guy who brings physicality for most teams in the NHL.

i'm sure that decision hinges on how far along they think Meyers is.

Hagg, sanheim and morin need to be on this team next year. If we're going to lose, lose with some of our young guys as they learn.
- Hextall271

The problem is Morin – even if he makes the team will be a rookie and given a very short leash. He's also limited to playing on one side of the ice which will be a factor again in his pairings and ice time. Hopefully Myers can make the club as well. Manning has heart and grit but he's just not an NHL caliber defenseman.

Any confirmed injuries yet other than the torn MCL for Coots?

Add someone like Rubstov or maybe a defender like Hagg(could be expendable with Morin and Myers close) to make a deal work.

I think Voracek would be a nice add for them especially if Pacioretty is moved.
