If you trade Gudas and Simmonds, let all UFAs walk, does John Carlson become an attractive and do-able signing?

no

Maybe if they didn't always find a way to lose in such spectacular fashion that might curb the thrwoing of things. Just a thought.

I would of liked to see them adjust their PP, I think they did once but Ghost at the top was being defended very well by the Pens. I didnt see any real commitment to change it up.

Regardless, that thought shouldn't even enter someone's brain.

I still can't believe they give people cans rather than pouring it into a cup the way they used to. Someone throwing a can of beer was inevitable.
- johndewar

Jeff Carter was hit in the face with a beer in DC bottle following the Flyers beating the Caps in Game 7 in 2008.

No only did that fan drive from Philly to DC, he threw a bottle at a player on the team he roots for.

No.

I think they have the pieces on the back end. I would rather have an impact forward. Someone more shoot first.

Attractive, yes. Do-able, no. If he hits UFA, he's going to look to cash in on a career year.

I'm still pissed we traded the pick used to take him for Steve Eminger, but right now is exactly the wrong time to go for him.

It always cracks me up that other fanbases act like Philadelphia fans are the only ones that do these things.

I mean I want a forward more than defense as well, more so a 3C than winger, but I’m having trouble seeing coaching and management roll with all of Hagg, Morin and Sanheim next season when two of them simultaneously couldn’t crack the lineup this year. Who knows if the situation would have been worse if Morin actually was healthy and stayed up.

Not here to gripe about penalties or troll!

You guys played a heck of a series and made it way closer than I expected. Mad respect to Couts. He's reach warrior status.

If you guys get some real goaltending in the next year or two, teams will definitely have cause for concern.

I figured it could be doable since we have tons of people saying we can sign Tavares who will cost more than Carlson. But good point wrong time to do so. Forgot about that traded pick 😞

Yep.

Oh, and when the field become covered in litter following a botched call of the in-field fly rule in Atlanta...little known fact is that every fan in attendance was from Philadelphia.

I especially enjoy it when a fan of another team invokes CLASSINESS.

STAY CLASSY!

KEEP IT CLASSY!

Such pollyanna bullpoop. Like people are at some Royal Debutante Ball or a visit with the Pope and not at a (frank)ing sporting event.

Carlson is very good.

Provorov, Gostisbehere, MacDonald are vets. Hagg had a year of experience. Sanheim went through adversity and came out better i believe. Maybe they let manning walk. Gudas is still signed so he will be back unless moved. I think one of Myers or Morin makes the team.

I could still see Manning back, signed cheaply to be a 6/7 guy.

I think the opposite actually. He is ugly AF. The Flyers could fit him, though would pay for it elsewhere down the road (i.e. Simmonds)

One thing people need to remember when talking about adding another player, especially one signed as a FA, is usage. In the case of signing Carlson, you would be paying for a guy who put up points on the power play when he wouldn't be playing on the power play. With Ghost, Provorov, and Sanheim, there really isn't a need to be acquiring guys with that skillset, but they definitely shouldn't be paying that.

Carlson is a really good defenseman, I just don't think he would be worth the price given his role.

For what they will pay Carlsson for past performances, I see Provorov becoming a Norris caliber defensman and he already put up 17 goals this year and I expect him to be better then Carlsson. I don't think Carlsson would move the needle for this team as much as people think.

I didn’t necessarily mean the vets vs rookies thing when they couldn’t crack line up. I mean Haks said it was a chemistry thing at times and why Hagg was in doghouse for tailend of season. Morin has to make the team this year I believe based on his contract. I honestly think Gudas should be moved (especially with Morin coming) but his RH shot is nice to have.

I know there will be a lot of talk this off-season about hypotheticals, etc.

I would just really like to see Konecny in a permanent top 6 role next season. He is so much more than a 3rd line pest. Give him skilled guys to work with, I dont want him saddled with having to carry a line.
