Was thinking the same thing.
Even a broken Sean Couturier is better than a fully functioning Val Filppula. - johndewar
Filppula's best days are behind him. We all know that.
I was more disappointed in getting nothing from Voracek all series? |

I'm willing to bet both Simmonds and Voracek are hurt and will require some sort of surgery.
I can't recall ever seeing Voracek play this much on the perimeter. - johndewar
Simmonds damn well better be injured. |

It wasn't just that. His decision making in the offensive zone was terrible. Lot's of bad penalties. He just looked lost. |

Filppula had one very productive game, coinciding with moving up to the top line.
Which, of course, means that he's a very effective player. He's no Al Hill or Alexander Picard, but still a great player. |

Yes...that would be the better part of half a decade, no?
If I was wrong about 05/06, I apologize. I didn't think the attendance went back up until the second half of 06/07. - jmatchett383
Attendance went from 11,800 in 03/04 to 15,800 in 05/06, which was actually 92% |

The penalties he took were inexcusable. Just an awful series all-around from him. |

Well now you're embarrassing yourself even more. I'm sure Arizona & Buffalo might want to say a thing or 2 about the bolded. Those poor Sabres fans having to settle for Eichel - poor bastards.
Mario saved the Pens organisation - have you read about that? Would you like to read about that & how & what he did? It's a great story about a great man.
Did he use Kansas as a bargaining chip - 100% in my mind. He kept the Penguins in Pittsburgh & look at what he has achieved. Say what you like - hell even say Bettman gave him Sid, but it's just more ramblings especially after about falling to #2 last draft.
I think your old mate in LA has some Riviera tickets ready to go for you (with a cart you lucky bastard). Are you in or around LA? Damn if not as you will probably whinge about not being able to go over there. - Aussiepenguin
The great Mario was closer to leaving then you may know

I don't think that is true. I think NAK and Vecchione have a great chance of playing on the Flyers. I could see NAK joining a bit later like after the first injury.
I don't think it is impossible that Frost makes the team, but I would guess he goes back - YuenglingJagr
If vecchionne couldn’t crack this years squad why would you think he will next year? Guy is 25 already I believe. NAK unless proven otherwise appears to be s much less disciplined version of Taylor Leier. He’ll get a shot to crack the roster but these guys aren’t moving any kind of needle |

If he can't handle the puck is he an effective player? That's the question. you need to have puck skills too and I feel i would rather have Hagg then Gudas. that;s just me. Hitting and having an edge just aren't good enough in today's NHL.
Even Oleksiak, while not an offensive dman, has some ok puck skills to go with his main game of hitting and defensive play. |

Flyers haven't tanked (twice) in the past 30 years either, so there's that. And they've been relevant, just haven't brought home the big prize. - wolfhounds
been on the verge of bankruptcy, threatened to move the franchise and got lucky to get 3 generational talents because of the tanking.
I applaud how much Snider always cared and would throw money around. i appreciate the all in approach. But with the salary cap and the fact it hasn't produced a cup I am fine with Hextall's approach despite the frustration

And can you believe he refused to talk to the media after the game. He left his teammates to clean up his mess. All he had to do is make simple plays and we are probably getting ready for a game 7. Zero accountability from this guy. I'd rather have Manning back next year if I had to decide between the two players. |

Gudas really does need to go and as much as it would be nice to have a rh shot in the group, they have 3 guys who can comfortably play the right side. I’d move Gudas, let Manning walk, sign an older vet to be the 7D and roll with

I have no clue but this is my guesses.
- One of Simmonds or Voracek is moved. No intel or readings or quotes from anywhere, just feel like they can move one, clear some money and replace them with possibly a youngish NHL vet that fits with this team better and can be a factor in the now and future.
- I think Aube-Kubel will make the team as a bottom 6 player. he made strides this year, adds speed and PK and would upgrade your bottom 6 and possibly the PK.
-I am not confident one of the Flyers goalies are back. Either Elliott or Neuvirth. this team should be a playoff team from here out. they need consistency there in play and just being available.
-I think Gudas might be gone. I am not sure his game fits what the Flyers want to do. Sanheim and hagg should both be mainstays next season. Add in Provorov, MacDonald and Gostisbehere. Manning could be resigned to be a 6/7. And I see one of Myers or Morin suiting up.
Just a couple things I would be surprised to see happen.

I wonder after the injruy year Morin had if Myers might push past him. Especially since he is a mobile big man. I could see Morin in Lehigh again. |

Cmon man I'm trying to go to bed. I read the first part it's about the arena? If you like look up NSW state government upgrading stadiums in Sydney.
How much money has the arena put back into the city?
Calgary & Ottawa both want funding don't they? Edmonton got funding didn't they? - Aussiepenguin

Man I knew gudas would get it today but it has been relentless. 2 bad turnovers at the wrong time that went into the back of the net....I get it. Besides that he was all of a -1 in the series.
We knew we’d have to score goals against this team. When your supposed best forward, captain, and recently voted defenseman of the year go a combined -21 and spearhead an ice cold power play all series long. That is not going to help your team against the 2 time defending champs.
Gudas was gudas all series long. He at least had a great game in game 5 and was relatively stable all series long before yesterday.
The top players and leaders on this team didn’t get it done at all and the execution level was horrendous. Ghost was far worse than gudas in this series. Tough pill to swallow but it’s true. |

It was 3 seasons. 01/02 through 03/04. There was no season in 04/05, and in 05/06, the attendance was back up in the 80s. - cap1681
so 33% of a decade vs 44%????

going to be a good off-season, Hextall will make some moves. I would like to see them sign Bernier. I do believe they should trade or sign a top 4 D and a top 6 winger. The only way I wouldn't is if the prospects on D and O blow the doors off.
My gut tells me the Flyers will never bring up 2 more rookie D and that Frost is the only game changer on the O side, he needs another year most likely |
