So I woke up this morning and it occurred to me that Jake scored four goals. Four Goals in an elimination game. Four straight goals. How is that possible???
Still shaking my head in amazement. - powerhouse
I was working & couldn't listen to the game. When I checked it with about 3 to go I saw goal - Guentzel
goal - Guentzel
Then I checked thinking he'd scored earlier & (frank) me dead - 4 goals!
Coûts got a hatty didn't he? Absolutely incredible effort by him as well. |

I don't understand people saying Letang tripping Coûts right before the goal??
1. Tanger played the puck
2. Coûts jumped up like a 65 year old woman in her kitchen after seeing a cockroach.
How is that a penalty? What was Letang supposed to do? Let Coûts just walk away with the puck?
I see some of the same people not worrying about the high hit on Hags from Giroux? So Giroux gets a free pass for anything he does? Must eat at the same restaurant as Marchand........
(frank)ing great win. Great work Pens. Bloody beauty! - Aussiepenguin
He played the puck before the player was hit. Legal play by Letang. Just like if you hit a player in the face while following through on a shot. Yet people get mad anyway.
In the end what gets me about all the whining and excuse making is this: Flyers were down 3-1 in this series, outscored in those 3 losses 17-1, winless on home ice where fans chant EAGLES when they lose, and couldn’t protect a 4-2 lead midway through a win or go home game, and yet the fans are pointing fingers and complaining about anything OTHER than their own team’s impotence, incompetence and mostly weak play? Maybe if they held onto those beers they were throwing long enough to finish them, some enlightenment might have shone on them and they would have realized they were lucky enough to even be in a game 6 in the first place.
Their Captain was a minus -10, Simmonds and Voracek (who?) were invisible and all they can admit to about their own team's most pressing issues is they need a new goalie? Some things just never change. |

I’m not sure id put ZAR and Rust on the same line. I don’t think their games would compliment each other.
Regardless, assuming Malkin comes back and Hagelin misses time, I’m assuming they’re gonna stick Rust on that left flank given his success playing with Malkin so that line might be broken up anyways. I’d wager ZAR-Brassard-Sheary gets a look. - Victoro311
Yeah, I want to see what Malkin and Hags status is before making lines. Agree it's probably Rust who has a track record of success and I'd really like a wing who plays well defensively there.
Other move I might consider is playing Sheahan at 2LW to keep that Brassard line together. Sheahan probably deserves more minutes than ZAR or Simon. Could move him down or double shift some of the 4th line minutes, but I'd like to get him more ice time if there are injuries. (that's if Malkin can go but not Hags.) |

Obviously hard to know for sure, and of course the last time he saw the Flyers in the playoffs there was a total meltdown and a mental aspect regarding them could be considered, but I think if the Pens had MAF they would of swept that series.
In saying this, Murray was brilliant in a few games and crap in a few other. I still have confidence that he will put it all back together and be more consistent. |

Giroux is a weasel... I'm sorry but he throws a late hit that he jumps on, targets the head and finishes with the elbow and no penalty??? You can't say it isnt a head shot when the head is the primary point of contact, the elbow and arms extend to contact the head and Hagelin is cut on his face. Doesn't get more egregious than that.

Second hugely dirty hit Giroux made this series with zero penalties called. Should be a multi game suspension but he probably won't get anything.
Its funny, Philly's captain is this weasel who always shrinks in the big game situations. On the other hand you have Couturier who is all heart and the only player who showed up for Philly. Two completely opposite players. I hope they keep Giroux on their team forever.

I'd love to see this on the Flyers thread!
You better not though, All hell will break loose. Giroux can do nothing dirty but apparently gets illegally hit way too much. |

Nah they have moved on to our cups being welfare received. You know, the whole tanking to get Sid and Mario. I guess decades of mediocrity will do that to you.

Couturier is a keeper. CG IMO anymore not Captain material. Then again; throwing a big goon hit regardless of what you do on the score sheet seems to pass for leadership with this management team. |

Coots is a beast but playing on a grade 2 MCL tear isn't really a big deal. |

Well they would know welfare. Philly ranked 12th of the countries neediest, welfare collecting towns and cities. Pittsburgh - 108. |

Obviously because he was able to skate laterally and didn't wear a brace. Plus, he didn't even know what he was injured with because he was telling everyone ACL. This is like Big Ben and his "broken" toe. SC a drama queen too?
In the playoffs a lot of players are playing with some kind of injury that would sit them if it was the regular season, so this "yeah, but I was injured" crap is kind of a cop out. You want to see players playing injured? See any Stanley Cup Final. |

The only reason you would sit out for a grade 2 MCL tear is so it could heal and so you don't further damage the knee.
A Grade 1 MCL tear requires icing, anti-inflammatories and light physical therapy, which usually sees athletes return to pre-injury level of performance- anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks. Had Eric Staal been going faster, he could have easily suffered a partial tear (a grade 2 MCL tear) which would have required a brace to stabilize the knee and would have bumped his recovery time to 4-6 weeks. Had he suffered a grade 3 MCL tear, he would have required a brace and crutches bumping his recovery time to 2-4 months. Only in very rare cases, does an MCL injury require surgery.

Congrats to you guys. Even though I think there were a few non-calls missed (on both team, mind you), the better team won in the end. Had the Flyers played games 1, 3, and 4 the way they played 5 and 6, I think we'd be going 7 and you guys still would have won.
In the end, you guys just had the depth that we didn't. Hats off. |

Well when all you have to do is bend over on your hands and knees on the bed, it's not like you're doing much of the work.

So did I. Then the human turnover machine Radko Gudas decided that he wanted to be Bobby (frank)ing Orr with the puck and...well, that was that. |

That got scary for us. Thank goodness Guentzel-Crosby-Hornqvist found God mode or we'd be playing a game 7. |

MAF would not have started/played any game of this series, so I’m not sure how him being here would have affected the outcome.
Murray’s only bad game was Game 6. Prior to Game 6, he let in a couple of weak goals through five games and was the reason the Pens didn’t lose some of them.
