I don’t think Jake has all the tools. His puck handling is very suspect.

Then does Nylander have all the tools seeing he checks like a girl?
- VANTEL

He doesn't either. He's a wussy

Ehlers is the best of both worlds, not afraid of contact like lil Willie, can fly on the ice, can score and can pass.

i know, but you and many others are using it wrong in this case. Stickhandling is as much of a skill as shooting is.

By that logic David Booth had all the tools as well, and we all know he could barely stickhandle too.

Nail Yakupov to me is more of an all tools, no toolbox kinda guy.

Ok I retract, Virtanen doesn't have all the tools, he's dumb, his hockey IQ and by all indications his personal IQ are low, his stick handling is crap, he can't make a pass to save his life, he can't make plays in tight spaces and he doesn't make other players around him better.

Yeah?

Jake reminds me of a guy i used to play with, he was refered to as a player with a million dollar set of wheels and a 2 bit brain.
Hopefully Jake pans out too be a decent player, continuing to get more like he showed in this seasons last 10 games.

yes, thank you

I'm just saying, I think people use that term wrong a lot in hockey. Basically a cheap way to describe guys who are big and fast and have powerful shots, but have low hockey sense and stickhandling.

Jake didn't need to be the best puck handler in junior leagues because he was faster and stronger than most of the guys he played against and his shot overpowered junior goalies. He didn't have to work as hard at puckhandling as smaller skilled guys do.

His north south speed is outstanding, better than most, even at the NHL level, his shot is very good and he's got a quick release.

I was just kidding but yeah I've never owned a "Beemer", out of my price range. I drive a 12 year old truck.
- LeftCoaster

I buy them used & cheap as in 20% max off the lot price or lower. Premium gas at a premium purchase price i could never defend. My 2003 4,6L X5 was $90k+ new & bought for $17k as 7yrs old. Same SAV now could be found for $5/6k un mint & running conditions. Mileage imon vehicke is a key.

People keep labelling players based on draft position/round. It makes more sense to compare the players to their own unique draft class. Especially players drafted right before and after them

As for JV then i still like him 👍👋

we said this at the end of last year as well, consistency is still an issue. When he has his motor going, he's a great bottom 6 player.

I do think Green has improved his 2-way play. He's one of the better back checking forwards on the roster.

I like the kid, but, even when he's good he's strictly making plays/rushes on his own. He's a one man show. It's exciting to see but again, it's great individual rushes.

It worked for pre-concussion David Booth and does for Chris Kreider. He should be watching video of guys like that, no need to try to make him the next Bertuzzi when they aren't nearly the same player.

Wasn't he in Utica the year before? He played 10 Games in the NHL that year so I doubt people were saying that about his game. I was pretty sure they said leave him in Utica if I remember correctly

Jake was in Utica last year, except for the 1st 10 games.

How sweet would it be if NHL benches were bigger and you could have reserve players simply for overtime.

Virtanen in overtime =

Yeah, his lack of a decent shot is being exposed at the NHL level.
