Little carried away guys. Bottom line is the kid was the best player in his league regular season and playoffs at 19. The kid wins. That alone is enough for me. Having won and been the best player? Come on!! NHL bound.

One of the potential advantages of playing in Europe for younger guys is the fewer number of games played. Allows more time to practice and train for added strength. Higher number of games in NHL and AHL plus travel makes it hard for some to keep on weight.

If Pettersson doesn't bulk up enough over the summer and struggles with the more physical NHL game in pre-season, then going back to SHL on loan may be a viable option. He’s obviously skilled enough so there may not be any need for him to play in the AHL to develop a North American game. He may just need another year to prepare his body for a long NHL career.
