I agree, I'm really looking forward to camp. I'm still on the put him in Utica, at least for a bit. But I'm happy either way really.

I just think keeping the pressure off while he learns the NA game/small ice is best. I trust the staff to determine whether he's ready, but just think there's no need to rush him. I think we've rushed a lot of players and it's hurt them, no need to continue that trend.

Wh ydo I have a bad feeling we're the team that ends up signing Jack Johnson hoping he bounces back with more icetime? MDZ 2.0

Fair enough. I find the AHL to be a more physical league so I'd prefer that he transitions straight to the NHL with sheltered minutes. I think the decision will be taken out of their hands when he is the best player in camp and preseason. I hope so anyways.

So what? He will take some hits and be stronger for it. He is 19 not 17 and he has survived just fine against men for the last two seasons. You can't hit what you can't catch.

I’m not arguing against him playing in NA. In fact I think it’s the best thing for his future and ours. I was just pointing out the physical barrier should not be understated.

After reading about his financial situation, I’m guessing he’s simply going to the highest bidder

Ya it might be a bit chippier. I agree, he may well play himself into a top6 role. Doesn`t make much sense for him to play a depth NHL role IMO, better to give him more opportunity in Utica to play PP1 and top line.

With Sedin's gone I'd assume he slots right into PP1 in Van.

Boeser - Horvat - Pettersson
Edler - Bae

Or perhaps Dahlin or Zadina could change things

First unit really needs playmakers now so him and Sven make sense there but it’ll probably be Gagner and Sven to start.

What about Joe Thornton on a one (or two) year big money contract for that second line C spot?

I think Gaunce’s brother is a UFA with Columbus

Why would Joe come here? Have to think he would like a run at a cup?

Because the Canucks could pay him $8+ million and no contender is going to do that. They could also eat salary and trade him to a contender, making it affordable.

It could be a great fit but he doesn't strike me as the guy to sell out for a pay day.

I doubt he will be the best player in camp, but I believe he will show enough flashes of his skill and vision that he starts the season with the team.

The only thing I could see hindering his chances are some nonsense about another guy's waiver status, but even then I think the chances are very minimal

The grind of that first year is tough for most young players. Pettersson's off-season work ethic will determine a lot of that.
- neem55

Its tough but I think he'll get stronger as the year goes on, as he did when he made the jump from Sweden's Div 1 to the top league and then through their playoffs

He probably has one or two more years in him. SAN Jose has been good, but they took away the C, haven’t extended him... Maybe Toronto will offer him a Marleau like contract? If we’re talking mentors for Peterson, I would love Joe “cocks out” Thornton in there with Pettersson and Dahlen!

I really hope he’s just trolling about the “HB files”

I assume most of us are embarrassed enough about visiting this site everyday and this guy keeps actual folder on his computer about things random guys on a message board have said

If one of my friends or girlfriend saw that on my laptop, they’d have some questions
