I think he wanted to know actual power play time for and against, not just the penalty minutes. - bobbyisno1
Probably, but that might actually mask the problem as Boston has been scoring on theirs (reducing their powerplay time) and the leafs pp has struggled.
It's pretty weak to complain about the officiating, but when the league suspends Kadri for more than anyone expected, ignores other, more egregious, hits and then throws up a big outlier in penalties... against the Leafs.
Well, at some point the complaining becomes legitimate.
... Just like Edmonton had all those goalie interference calls go against them without one going their way. They had every right to complain.
Whether any of this is intentional who can say... although we all know it is intentional Boston gets away with poop because it has been happening for years and pretty EVERY fanbase has noted it. |

I liked how HNIC highlighted how Bergeron and the Bruins take face-offs by scooping the puck and not setting their sticks. Great work by Babcock to reveal this ploy. - winsix
And yet it's always a leaf that is thrown out. |

Yup, I doubt it is intentional...but I feel like its human nature to go against the Leafs
I mean look at when we won the lottery, everyone was saying it was rigged even though we had the best odds to win

Highly doubt that, they have been reluctant to trade those guys and I doubt that will change. Don't be like a lot of Leaf fans and let a few playoff games fool you.
The same thing happened to Kuznetsov and now look at him.....some guys take longer to figure out how they have to change their game in the playoffs than others - Santo_44
Work ethic is lowest of all young players, so he draws the shortest straw
He is good, but we need $ to sign a RHD
I see Kapanen as only a small downgrade from Willie ( and better defensively)
We are stacked on the RW |

My goodness could the refs be any more against Boston in that game? What a shame

The call against Dermott is the one that still bothers me. We've all seen defencemen like Chara make that play pretty much every game without a call. I don't know how an official can make that call in a playoff game. |

If there was one Bruin player I would like for the Leafs, it would be Jake DeBrusk
He has been great

Intent is irrelevant and impossible to determine. The fact is Toronto had one power play in the game - (and scored) And the ref appeared to try to not call a penalty on that play, despite the fact that the offender's stick blade was lodged in Johnsson's skate almost to the shaft. Good thing he didn't break his ankle.

I think the arguement for trading Nylander has a lot to do with the fact that he is going to get paid, and the leafs have more depth on the wings than they do on D.
Nylander is also a significant trade chip that could be part of a package to get a significant defense asset back.

Nylander will get paid as much as any 60 pt player coming off their ELC does, he wont cost much on a 6 year deal...and I would put money on him getting a lot more points than 60 next year.
Out of the three, we are in the best position to get Nylander for a bit cheaper than he is worth. He is not going anywhere |

Agree, the caveat remains that playoffs are a different animal. Leafs are still really up against it in this series - a major long shot to sweep the last two games. Play off hockey is much different, and called different by officials than the regular season. The holding, hooking clutching and grabbing is not called the same. As an example, shooting the puck into the offensive zone and chasing after it - during the regular season if the defender impedes the winger/centre chasing the puck - interference penalty, during the playoffs - not a penalty. Nylander needs to adapt to the tougher hockey the way Pastrnak has obviously done.

Its crazy what a few playoff games will do to people, if people gave up on Kuznetzov after his horrible playoff stint his first two appearances than they would be regretting it. This poop happens to some players |

Kap could definitely be a 50 point player, but Nylander has much higher upside and has already proven it. |

Disagree on this. Way too early to say on Kapanen. He really has had limited time in the NHL to this point, but skating ability comparison to Grabner is ok. But remember he was (according to NHL central scouting) the number one European skater in the draft. Ahead of Aho, Vrana, Fiala, Pastrnak and Nylander. Putting him on PK and playing limited time with Moore - isn't really an acceptable way to judge. On Nylander, talent is there, needs to be able to handle the rougher go in the playoffs though. |

How many of the minutes were offsetting? - spazzbot
These are power play minutes!
Are you watching the games or do you just feel the need to make devils advocate commentary? The reffing has been a total joke! And I'm not being a homer......it's been abysmally one sided!
I remember in the first game when we actually were on the power play and Leo got high-sticked, drawing blood. No call, can't put a team on a 5-3! So you look at the totality of the non calls like that and the BS calls like Bozaks "slash" that broke their stick.....and you gotta think....is the fix in?
As for the puck off the glass penalty vs the off side? You can't definitively see the puck going off the glass or not despite what Bobby Mack says.....yet the Boston player was 4 inches offside...and Boston officiating can't get the proper feed to Toronto's coaching to review it?
The reffing against Toronto has been brutal! |

If Kapanen had 4 goals I'd sit up. But he has ZERO points.
ZERO.
He's a quality player and glad he's on the team, but (frank) sakes. |
