Nasville finally played like the best team in the league. Avs were a mess in their own end. Better team won.

However that was some of the worst officiating I have ever seen.

The officiating was bad all series. I'm not sure either team got the better of it. I mean, last night, they get Zadorov for a legal check. Then Sven the doofus takes a cross-check penalty (legit) and they call Arvidsson for flopping when he got cross-checked in the neck. Nobody scored on the special teams anyway...but it just makes the game even chippy-er...if that's a word.

Full marks to the Avs. I know a lot of people will point to Bernier and Hammond inconsistencies as costly, but the Preds didn't have any trouble with Varlarmov this year either. I think the bigger loss was Johnson. The good news is, the Avs have cap room and a rising team that will be attractive to some very good, depth 2/3 line guys.

And, even though Girard got pantsed by Forsberg on the one goal, it kinda stings to see how good he is at such a young age. I suppose having Turris as the 2C is worth it...but man, Girard is going to be good for the Avs for a long time.

That you truly believe this shows the power of tribalism beautifully.

I’ve never seen a team so desperately work the refs every single whistle like Nashville, embellish and dive to successive effect, and target the head with purpose as clearly coached. But the league has its darling.

More important than all that is how perd fans actually live in that big a bubble with 0 injuries. Avs fans will be here for you when reality arrives. We’ve fallen into the same trappings in the past (except we actually have cups to show for it, and will clearly again before Nashville) as this series previewed the future vs the past for hockey culture, cynicism vs creativity, and the perds showed in this series an inability to handle the most injured, youngest team in the league. All the heart and soul is with the Avalanche. Trying to tinker trading futures into building a “super team”, well we tried that and there is no chemistry, only cheapshot/cowardly team culture. No soul. That’s how you got run out for your own barn by a bunch of rookies. Which is why we have sympathy for how it feels when the fall comes hard after confusing favoritism for fortune.

Felt good seeing just how meteoric the Avs rise is, and fun exposing perds as a paper tiger.

Zadorov got called for interference for the exact same hit Arvidsson laid on MacKinnon. Zads 10 minute major was a joke as well. Ryan Ellis is a little female dog. I hope Wheeler steam rolls him. I have alot of repsect for Subban off the ice and for his talent on the ice, but that guy was diving and flopping all over the place. Austin Watson is an ass who will eventually cost the Preds with his antics.

The cups you have to show for it were handed to you with a Stanley Cup-ready, relocated team. Your market didn't have to wade through the tough years of an expansion team build-up for 15+ seasons. Nashville is certainly no "super team" that's been cobbled together. No massive free-agent signings. No desperate deadline deals. The Preds don't have a single forward the caliber of MacKinnon. It's just a mostly home-grown, solid group of NHL players that don't mind playing big boy hockey in the playoffs.

And losing one game on home ice where the Preds outplayed and outchanced the Avs & the goalie had the game of his life is not exactly getting run out of your own barn as you put it. Nice try though.

Unlike you, I don't need to insult the other team in order to appreciate what my team accomplished. And the Preds know full well what it's like to have injury issues. Last year, they played the last two series without their #1C and second-line winger. Of course, all they did was reach the Cup final & push it to 6 games. So save the injury whining for another time. The Preds would've gladly welcomed Varlamov in the net. They only scored 30 goals the last 7 times they faced him.

You are right about one thing, the Avs are on the rise & deserve plenty of respect. Even misguided & ill-informed fans like you can't take away from that.

It only took 6 games for the Predators to show why they were the NHL's top team this year, against a truly undermanned and inexperienced team.
Might want to change those Antics against the Jets or they better hope their PK is playing @ a 95% clip because they are going to seem like they're going to be in the box all the time.
Congrats on this & Good Luck Predator fans , because if they don't play a whole lot better then they did in the 1st round odds are they don't make the Conference Finals.
