It's an absolute shame that the Jets play the Preds round two. They should be the cup final. Final 4 very least. Someone is going to be hugely dissapointed with a second round exit.
- Iggysbff

FYI....There is a team called the Colorado Avalanche that is still playing hockey.

True that, but the Jets have the grit the Wild lack to make a deep run. Good luck fellas. Hope you kick the crap out of Nashville.

Hey MnGump - I have appreciated your commentary and perspective of the Jets/Wild series - how about staying with us for the balance of the playoffs? We can use some outside of Winnipeg fans perspective to help keep it real.

Thanks for all the nice thoughts from all the other team's fans. For many Winnipeggers this was huge deal given the history.

I'm a Jets supporter, they are my second favourite team. I see this Jets team bring Stanley back home.

@Jets/Thrashersnation

Awesome. Using a horrific tragedy to make your point regarding a fictitious moniker for a team.

Also, the Leafs would get some fans on board for sure. But the fact is, Leafs do truly have a huge fan base not just throughout Canada but the world.

Again I state I’m not a Leafs fan, but I certainly don’t have a hate for them like a lot of others from provinces outside of Ontario. My thought is that it’s because of the huge fan base that other fans seem insecure and can’t just be pumped for what they have. You need to understand, the Leafs and Habs have a much bigger fan base because they are hockey institutions. When there weren’t teams in Alberta, Manitoba, etc., people cheered for either the Leafs or Habs.

Finally, I believe that the Jets/Thrashers organization is fantastic, and are my favourites to win the Cup. But in no way shape or form are they Canada’s Team.

@Finnisher

I completely agree, you are Winnipeg. A great city, great fans, really good team! Why some feel the need to coin the team Canada’s team is boardering on desperate. It’s a bit troubling that they feel such inferiority. The by deserve to relish the fact they are fantastic all around and be happy within themselves for that.

As someone who lives in Ontario now and travels quite a bit throughout Canada, it’s weird that a lot of people in other provinces have such a hate for Toronto and Ontario as a whole. It’s weird cause when you talk to people here, they remark how beautiful and great places in BC are, how awesome the people in Manitoba are, etc. It’s a one sided hate stemming from a false inferiority complex.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. This team. This fanbase. This city. All that matters. Other fans can feel free to jump on the bandwagon but at the end of the day we are not Canada's team
We are Winnipeg

- Finnisher29

Thanks Finnisher.

For those not usually a Jets fans - Cheers welcome, however, we don't need all of Canada to be pumped about the Jets. We already like them.

Thanks guys! So frustrating to see the Wild play so poorly!

But I think there is an obligation to give mucho credit to a fantastic Jets squad. Aside from one game the wild were simply overmatched. Kudos Jets fans! And as I have stated previously, the better team indeed moving on.

Agreed Benny. Its not like we cheer for Phoenix anymore just because they were once the Jets. Any last gasp in that moniker died with Shane Doan's retirement. They are a distant memory now ( although I assume some Peggers have vacation homes there so they do maintain some fanbase).

Go Jets! And they did! So very happy to see them coalesce over the years. Some years better than others.
Great city and great team. This coming from a fan in Atlanta who has been very loyal to this team from afar.
Now on to the next step.

I’m not loving this push to be Canada’s team. No reason to do this, not cool. Let fans across the country decide who they want to cheer for.

I remember cheering for the oilers and flames when they had their runs and cheered for Ottawa last year but I wasn’t calling them Canada’s team during.

I also agree we need to drop the Jets/Thrashers thing. I don’t say that to be disrespectful to Atlanta, their fans or this team’s history at all. It’s just we are the Winnipeg Jets not Jets/Thrashers. I don’t see them adding Minnesota to dallas, Atlanta to Calgary, Quebec to Colorado or even Winnipeg to Arizona anymore so after 6 years it our turn to have that dropped as well.

Same here Biltong. As a Thrashers season ticket holder I hold no ill will In fact my son's and i are thrilled to see "our" team be so successful. You guys deserve this. It's been a pleasure to meet jets fans in Nashville, Tampa, Ft Lauderdale, Raleigh and we're looking forward to meeting more of you when we make our pilgrammage to Winnipeg next season. I'm especially hopeful to see some of you guys on this blog. It has been an important part of staying connected to the team.

.....yes, as a Thrashers fan I too find it disrespectful to the fine people from Winnipeg to continue this silliness. Chipman , Chevy, Pomo and the city deserve the credit for what has been accomplished. ....

Still thinking about the w.

The whole team played at a level that displayed a killer instinct and committment to end the series. It was 'death from above' on ice.

I hate to say it but as much as I'd like to see the Leafs win tomorrow it would be better for the Jets if they were to lose. Same goes for Columbus. Why? Because it starts the second round that much earlier which gives teams Like Nashville less rest. I also think a bigger and more physical Bruins are the preferred choice to beat up on TB. Pens probably kill Washington though.

I would guess based on the results the Jets either play Wednesday or Friday.

Well, its off to Nashville. We kind of expected or anticipated this second round matchup, so here we are, about to enter round 2.

Time for a new posting Pete, lots to discuss on this now "confirmed" round 2 matchup!
