When I think of early pop stars I think guys like Elton John, groups like Queen, and later on Prince (his hits, not his R&B catalogue).

I like some groups that were borderline Disco/Funk like Parliament and The Trammps.

He's an interesting artist. I may not enjoy all his stuff but I appreciate musicians that push the envelope. No matter what genre he dabbled in he produced top quality.
