This series, Marner has been better. This year, not even close. Nylander has had way tougher minutes against tougher competition and still creates scoring chances of his own (yes completely independent from matthews).

Marner's pretty good, but if you deployed him the way babcock uses Nylander he'd be labeled a bust.

- Sabresfan-365

I take Marner over Nylander. He is an elite playmaker. Nylander gets the tougher minutes of virtue of playing with Mathews. Marner can single handedly drive his own line. Ask Patty marleau who had 27 goals this year, Nazem Kadri who scored 30+ for two consecutive years. He also drives their power play.

I think he starts on the wing regardless unless he just blows the doors off at center in training camp. Eventually they could use him like a Seguin. Switch back and forth between center and wing. And a lot of good players start off on the wing before they transition to center. It's not a knock.
- Wetbandit1

He's a Center and I think they want him to stay there.

I understand what your saying, but the coach and GM just say what we want to hear. They may have a really different inside opinion of nylander.

An amerks season ticket holder who seemed to have zero agenda, comes in and gives his first hand opinion.
You shot it down and blasted him for hating the player.

Maybe it wasn't disrespectful, bossy for sure

- Boss34

Because nobody comes on here and hates a player and never changes his mind about that. Expects a, gets b and never forgives player for starting at b.

I don't care why he gets them, i care that he does and still produces. Marner gets favourable zone starts against favourable competition. The only area where he has a true edge over Nylander is the powerplay. Which is another way of saying the only way he's better than Nylander is when the other team is missing a guy and collapsing.

It's not a knock on marner who is a terrific talent but with all due respect you're out to lunch while watching these games if you think he's better than Nylander. This series, absolutely. During their careers? Advantage Nylander.

Also, I don't want to cast aspersions, but "Dwyane"? Me thinks someone (frank)ed up on the birth certificate and just went with it.
- Wetbandit1

That's actually what happened. He's named after his dad. D-Wade's grandma spelled it that way because she thought that was the proper spelling.

When asked about the spelling in an interview with Esquire, Wade said, "I have no idea. I'm a junior — I got that name from my father. I asked him — my grandma said that's how she felt it was spelled. There you go."

That's all you saw it as? I heard him mention Malone a couple times and it seemed like he was making a point to mention him for some reason. Not trying to be an ass at all, just thought it was more than him playing his role as GM talking up his prospects.
- RhinoFan

Murray also used to rave about how Devante Stephans was going to be a very good defenseman in the NHL. He said it on Schoop and Bulldog, "I don't know how many goals he'll score in the NHL, but I know he'll be responsible for keeping the puck out of our net" Take that for what it's worth.

Craig Rivet constantly talks about how Malone is going to be the perfect fourth line center for the Sabres.
- macman9

I hope he is. Keep in mind Rivet works for the Sabres. Him liking a local prospect is about as exciting to me as JB saying the same.

A cool story that you guys probably don’t now but the Sabres had no intentions to draft Sean Malone Terry actually made it happened

So you can say Terry drafted him lol

And at the time the Sabres did not think he had an NHL future they thought it would be a dream scenario where he got drafted by his favorite team

It’s just a pretty cool story

- gerbe75pts

What about him? Both his names are spelled right. Dwayne and Duane are both accepted spellings of the name.
