You didn't raise your hand though, so your heinous comments about Nylander will be stricken from the record.

Joking aside though, thanks for the input. Watched a bunch of games this year myself and went to two, he was a bright spot for sure.

Hey, I'm actually trying to keep my real comments off the board. Nylander may have put up some points at the end of the season, but even in those games he's been atrocious. The only reason I won't write him off completely is because I've also seen the flashes of what he's capable of. If he grew a pair and didn't shy away from contact and actually made some plays on top of his natural talent, he could make a difference at this level, and certainly push for a spot in Buffalo.

I don't post much, but as an Amerks fan and STH I gotta talk about how much I loved Blackwell's game this year. I had no idea who he was coming in, but he's been so noticeable in so many positive ways right from the get go, so he's the polar opposite of Nylander.

He gives 120% every shift he's on the ice, whether we're down by 7 or up by 9 (yes, both happened this year). He has above average to great speed, is strong defensively and on the forecheck, plays both sides on the special teams, and found his scoring touch and got on fire for the second half of the season. Far and away, he's been my favorite Amerk this year and totally deserving of his "Unsung Hero" award.

I'd love to see him make the leap to the NHL for his sake, but I'd also hate to lose him in Rochester because you don't often see a guy like him who puts it on the line night in and night out.

I think he's on an AHL-deal right now. Maybe that'll change next season.

He's centering Nylander and Baptiste tonight, at least to start. If Baptiste can play the game we all have seen him play in the past, and if Nylander can get his head out of his a$$, that line could be downright explosive.

Sounds like you've seen a lot of Amerks hockey. Do you think Baptiste can be an NHL top-6?

What would it matter if Baptiste is good in the AHL ?

We all have seen what he is just a third line player that could maybe pot 15 goals a year

To be honest, if you watched any Sabres games this year, you've probably seen more of him than I have. Out of all of the forwards in Rochester, he's probably got the best chance of being a top-6 NHLer next season, although Bailey has made huge strides in the second half this year, and I'd love to see CJ Smith get a shot.

Sometimes he reminds me a bit of Vanek lite, in that when he's hot he's really hot, but he'll also disappear from the scoresheet for long stretches. He's had good stretches of strong physical play and some great looking goals, but to me he seems more like a middle-6 guy than a top-6 guy.

And he can’t use his talent to be better than the players that he’s playing against which are bottom feeders

aren’t good players supposed to rise up and take charge and earn their way up ?

Yeah me too. I bet he would have gotten a look with Eichel if Smith hadn't gotten hurt at the wrong time.

True, after 3 years and about 50 NHL games, we've seen a 4th liner. Hopefully he can figure it out. This will be a huge camp for him.

He scored 2 goals in a game and found himself on the fourth line again the next game.

I get it, the only prospect in Roch that is interesting to you is Nylander

I do dislike Nylander, but it's based on what I've seen. No, I'm not an NHL scout, nor have I had any experience working as a GM or coach. That being said, as a fan, I'm willing to overlook some things for a young player, especially one that has spent most of his career Europe and is adjusting to the pro game in NA.

What I want to see from that player is effort. I know the skill is there, but it seems that night in and night out, he just isn't willing to put in the work to improve. Yes, I am biased, I'll admit it. And if Nylander pans out, I'll happily be the first to eat crow. But for now, he's very frustrating to watch, and that's where my viewpoint gets skewed a bit.

I think that Baptiste and ERod would make a great start to a third line. They'd need a more defensive veteran though, to make sure they stay a little responsible.
