Desh would have been fine as a fourth line center, maybe even on the third line. But he was miscast when moved up and tried in the top-six, especially on the top line. He had six goals and 22 assists in 71 games, a minus-22 rating, 55 shots on goal, 98 shot attempts, 55.1% on faceoffs, 13:03 per game, 22 hits, 36 blocked shots, 26 takeaways and 26 giveaways. Numbers that are fine in bottom-six, save for draws, which play regardless of line placement. He wasn't the issue with this team this year. Not a major answer but not a detriment, as he didn't control line placement and utilization. But makes sense for him to play overseas, bigger ice surface, more playing time, etc. |
