Kadri, Gardiner, a 1st and probably a 2nd or perhaps another 1st....IF the Leafs got Tavares - AngryWhiteMale
Doubt they'd take Kadri over Nylander if they rebuild, they'll want younger players and they are giving up Doughty so they'll want something legit in return. |

Nylander, Marner and Reilly are untouchable.
If we got JT I'd even think of moving Matthews to PHX for OEL+++ - AngryWhiteMale
Nylander, Marner and Rielly are untouchable but Matthews can be traded for OEL?

They wouldn't take Kadri over Nylander. I agree.
But we're not exactly in a crunch or anything. We don't NEED Doughty, and despite what I said about us needing a stud it'd be worth waiting to sign him then actually giving up good assets.
I think Matthews to PHX would be something we could do because PHX would overpay to the point where we would be stupid not to. |

If Drew Doughty is "available", and the Leafs, by some miracle, sign Tavares, would you trade Nylander, 1st round pick etc. for Doughty?
Matthews at 10 million, Tavares at 10 million, Doughty at 10 million, Marner at 7 or 8 million...worth it?
Should be an easy yes, right? - Unholy_Goalie
I'd be worried to trade that much for a player that will hit free agency and possibly go elsewhere after one more season. |

Well thank goodness sign-and-trades are commonplace in the NHL then! |

Leafs are definitely in a crunch to find a legit #1 D when you consider how infrequently they become available.
Funny thing about Doughty is he's already publicly said living under the microscope in Toronto isn't something he'd enjoy so signing as a UFA is pretty unlikely. But, if you get him in a trade, now you can offer him an 8 year deal, which is more money than anybody else can offer him. Now, maybe he reconsiders and wants to stay. So boiled down, the only way you might be able to get him is to acquire him in a trade. Obviously, everybody wants to get him for free but this isn't NHL18 and it doesn't always go that way. |

Obviously you'd have an extension worked out with Doughty before the deal is done. No point in getting him for 1 year. |

They've sucked for years and don't care. I doubt they'd overpay that badly for something they can get for free by tanking for a few years, which they'll do anyway. |

I'd be sad to lose Nylander, but if that trade, or something like it, secured Doughty for the next 8-9 years, then I don't see how anyone could turn down that trade from a Leafs standpoint.
Especially if we'd already signed Tavares somehow. |

So your plan is to give up a poopload of assets for a guy who becomes a UFA in 1 year and has already stated he doesn't want to play in Toronto?
You'd better delete this post before Uggie reads it - he's going to go into complete douchebag mode telling you how stupid this idea is.
And he will be right. |

2 interesting things for AZ in the offseason.
i) domi may be traded
ii) what they do if they get dahlin.
they need at least 2 scoring forwards and have oel and chychurn on the left side. one may get moved. |

Your details came later - and they were still illogical.
By the way, just because the Leafs can offer him an 8-year deal, it in no way means that he can't get more money elsewhere. |

Domi's value is low.
I'd say the more interesting thing this offseason is the financial stability of the club.
Or lack thereof... |
