Browns a cheap jobber, I'm not sure he's a problem.
- Blazed

I think he needs better line-mates. He's the Hyman of that line, but instead of Matthews and Nylander to play with, he's got Mr. and Mrs. Invisible. Even Marner had a hard to producing for stretches with those two. JVR is the anti-Matthews, almost exclusively useful on the powerplay.

Leafs have plenty of space. Just don’t sign Tavares for more than 10M

Signing Tavares in the summer will fix that..
- Fruitcakenipple

Leafs will score 6 a game...still allow 8. But it’ll be a fun ride. Hold on to your (frank)ing rubber socks you Newf female genitalia.

I mean I obviously tend to play closer attention to Bruins players, but I haven’t noticed much from Nylander at all. What’s going on?

Young guy. Plenty of time. I’m just wondering where he is in the moment because I expected more from him.

They will never win with that mentality, I'll put money on it.
- Blazed

Who? The Blues? They weren't winning anything with the pending UFA either. Just like the Leafs aren't going anywhere this year with JVR, Bozak and Komarov who will walk for free after a 1st round exit. The Leafs lost twice.

It's not the player so much as the philosophy. I'm of the mindset a winning mentality is key and they don't have it.

They didn't let six in a game this year, how will signing Tavares change that?

Like who?
- Fruitcakenipple

Tavares would be nice long term, but Stastny or Thornton short term would be good too.

The Leafs don’t have much in the way of center depth unless they move Nylander to C. Maybe have him center Marleau and Marner. With Kadri between Johnsson and Kap. If Nylander isn’t ready, and they can’t get any of those other 3... then maybe a guy like Filpulla or even bringing Bozak back at a discount.

They really shouldn’t have let Boyle go. I don’t remember if that was a Leaf decision or a Boyl decision, but he was something they really could have used this season, and going forward.

He's hurt. Other players on non-playoff teams had similar injuries and they got shut down for the season and needed surgery. He's not been great but he's not 100% either. Players are good at hiding it, just ask Bergeron.
- Unholy_Goalie

Agree. .he's not playing 100%..I think there's a nagging/injury? .something? ..and I'll say it again jvr blozac and gards. .has the stink of leafs past! ..Leo too!.. bye bye

Hey if you want to take my wager I'm game. But they are in their prime and missed by 1 point that is hilarious. Get in the dance and you never know.

Hindsight is 20/20. If we won this series (as management clearly thought we were capable of doing) and maybe even made a series of it in round two, say at least made it to Game 7 against Tampa, and JVR got 4 goals and 8 points in that span, we'd be singing a different tune. Ditto with Bozak. they would have been valuable assets for the playoff push.
Easy to say it was a bad idea after being eliminated in at best 6 games in round one when they were almost invisible.

Mindset of getting better players, who are younger and cheaper is what makes you a winner.

No they changed all that when they dumped Kessel and kept JVR and Bozak.
And i almost forgot about Bernier.

Disastrous? It'd be exactly the same with the young, fast players getting more ice time with future pieces in your pocket. (frank), it can't be much worse than it was.
- Unholy_Goalie

Absolutely disastrous. You think young players and potential UFAs would be excited to play for a team that is ok with throwing their season away? Because that’s how it’d look from a player perspective.

(frank) Thornton. He didn't win jack poop in his prime in San Jose, neither did Marleau, what's he going to do now at 40?

Exactly the same thing happened. They still got their ass kicked in the 1st round. Nobody is going to care about it if they make the picks and prospects they get in return count. All the young players getting more ice time would have been happy.
