I've been thoroughly impressed with Rielly and Marner. To a lesser degree I like what the future holds for Dermott, Kapanen and Johnsson.
- Blazed

Rielly and Marner have stood out. Every one has been meh.

If he's not hurt, I'd be shocked and seriously need to reconsider how far away they really are from being contenders.

Depends who you talk to. Some people talked like this series was a coin toss and that the Leafs had magical advantages that didn't really exist.

I'd say given the youth of this team, it was inexperience more than gutless. They're fragile and they're getting outplayed by a better, smarter, more experienced team.

The Capitals played a style the Leafs could hang with. The Bruins don't. That's why I preferred to play the Lightning. It's like an MMA fight where one guy can't wrestle and he finds himself on his back; it's just a matter of time before he gets tapped.

Any team that can score goals in bunches with a good goalie can win a series.

Sadly we havn't had that dominant tending performance and the goals have dried up.

It's possible. My gut says he isn't hurt he just hasn't been able to produce and is still growing as player. I like that he doesn't cheat to make it happen he still as Babs says, plays the right way.

Having said that I do hope you're right. You're right we need him to be great.

- Blazed

We better hope he's hurt because if he's 100% and he's playing like this, the Leafs are in a lot more trouble than we think.

If this is the end of the season then I think the management overestimated their team and should have traded jvr at the deadline. Hindsight is 20/20 though.

I think Lou ripped up any contract offer he had for JVR.
He's taken 2 million off each of Matthews and Nylanders contracts and offered it to marner.
He also probably feels he needs more help on D.

sorry, would Crystal Palace or the Covered Bridges have worked better?

N.B. Is as underrated as Bozak, love it there

Marner
Dermott
Rielly
Kapanen
Hyman
Johnsson
Polak
I might even add Gardiner, Bozak, Marleau to that list (although just 'ok').

It's Andersen, JVR, Nylander not showing up at all - and to a lesser extent Brown, Matthews, Hainsey and Zaitsev not playing well.

- MaximusAurelius

Zaitsev to a lesser extent? The guy has been brutal. Invisible would be a massive upgrade at this point.

Oh shut up you know you have the horses to beat Tampa. Although Bergeron has to be healthy.
- Blazed

Sure we can beat Tampa. It’d be a great and very close series.

That's a pipe dream because defense usually wins in the playoffs and if you don't have that, you need the Crosby's and the Malkin's of the NHL which the Leafs do not have.

A good goalie can't do much for you when you lean on him all year long and expect you to carry you the whole way. He needs to be helped out at a certain point and the Leafs don't do that enough to justify their offense first style.

This series isn’t over.

If we were to advance, I think we lose to Tampa. A lot of people here brought up the Leafs record against Boston and I thought that to be foolish. Boston has dominated Tampa for the most part, but to think that continues would be foolish. I think it’d be a great series. I think it’d go 7 and I believe Tampa would win.

I do think Tampa or Boston goes to the SCF

- RickJames77

I didn't once think our record against you guys was an indication. You guys know how to step up in the playoffs and expected as much. I was just hoping we would step up too and at least go toe-to-toe with you guys. Needless to say, we haven't

As the Series has gone on, and even in this regular season, it is clear to me that right now Marner is our best player, not Matthews.

Watching them play, it isn't even close.

JVR, Bozak and Komarov should have all been moved at the deadline. No wasting a 2nd on Plekanec either.

Could be sitting on a 1st, two 2nds, 3rd and a prospect (at least) right now with the same results on the ice giving Kapanen, Johnsson and Moore the ice time.

To be fair I have Nashville winning.

Hear me out: I actually had the Bruins making it to the cup final at the beginning of the year

Matthews is the better goal scorer, Marner is the better passer, they both play two-way hockey but Matthews has the NHL size. I've always held them as near equals in my mind.

I certainly thought this series would be the closest of all of them.

It isn't over, but Wash/Col could be the only one to go past 5 games.

JVR has done what he does, couple goals, invisible otherwise.

Nylander, Matthews, Hainsey, Brown, Andersen ... Almost nothing.

- Aetherial

Leafs will not miss JVR. Especially if they can sign a solid center.

Sportsnet just said Mathews has refused to talk to media. In the playoffs, the Nhl will fine you.

This playoff, Marner has exceeded my expectations.
I thought Nylander would be better. Hasn't worked out but this season is not yet over.
