I'm not a corsi guy but he's leading both teams in shots, his defensive play is good, he's been responsible with the puck.
- Blazed

Just because he's been good, doesn't mean he is 100%. Matthews being good is expected. Matthews being great is what is required. And something is holding him back from being great.

Shut up you and your ocean beaches.

But just so you know..
Ontario has many amazing beaches on amazing lakes.

Just.

No oceans....and hot weather all year round

He's hurt. Other players on non-playoff teams had similar injuries and they got shut down for the season and needed surgery. He's not been great but he's not 100% either. Players are good at hiding it, just ask Bergeron.
- Unholy_Goalie

Part of me hopes so, because his performance has been disappointing so far.

I couldn't care less about the Leafs winning the series. Did anyone expect they would get through Boston, Tampa, Pittsburgh to get to the cup anyway?

I did hope to see a glimpse of what the future might hold. Not seeing anything too hopeful out of the Leafs. It is tough to imagine a more gutless performance, almost without exception.

Compare to last year when they gave the President's trophy winners all they could handle.

this is not true.

I agree it's not fatigue though.
Andersen isn't a top goalie to start with, and seems he can't handle the playoff pressure

- MaximusAurelius

Most of the team. Happy? Marner is a stud.
And Andersen was fine in the playoffs last year, IMO. Not fantastic, but he outplayed Holtby. I'm not sure what his deal is, but it's not fatigue.

I really do wish we didn’t have to play each other in the first round.

Genius! Let’s have the #4 team play the #7 team in the first round!

Sportsnet just said Mathews has refused to talk to media. In the playoffs, the Nhl will fine you.

Andersen hasnt been his best.
And its still a wash

- Fakepartofme

I disagree fake. I’m not going to try and convince you, why should I? You have your opinion.

I’m not a hockey expert, but I feel Rask had a great game and has played better than Andersen in this series.

I’m one of the few big Rask fans so I’ll admit my bias

Leafs would have played the Penguins in a 1 vs. 8 format. It's the same poop. Tampa Bay should be the ones pissed off with the format, they get the Bruins next instead of maybe a lower seed.

It's possible. My gut says he isn't hurt he just hasn't been able to produce and is still growing as player. I like that he doesn't cheat to make it happen he still as Babs says, plays the right way.

Having said that I do hope you're right. You're right we need him to be great.

Marner
Dermott
Rielly
Kapanen
Hyman
Johnsson
Polak
I might even add Gardiner, Bozak, Marleau to that list (although just 'ok').

It's Andersen, JVR, Nylander not showing up at all - and to a lesser extent Brown, Matthews, Hainsey and Zaitsev not playing well.

I've been thoroughly impressed with Rielly and Marner. To a lesser degree I like what the future holds for Dermott, Kapanen and Johnsson.

This series isn’t over.

If we were to advance, I think we lose to Tampa. A lot of people here brought up the Leafs record against Boston and I thought that to be foolish. Boston has dominated Tampa for the most part, but to think that continues would be foolish. I think it’d be a great series. I think it’d go 7 and I believe Tampa would win.

I do think Tampa or Boston goes to the SCF

If he's not hurt, I'd be shocked and seriously need to reconsider how far away they really are from being contenders.

I couldn't care less about the Leafs winning the series. Did anyone expect they would get through Boston, Tampa, Pittsburgh to get to the cup anyway?

Depends who you talk to. Some people talked like this series was a coin toss and that the Leafs had magical advantages that didn't really exist.

I did hope to see a glimpse of what the future might hold. Not seeing anything too hopeful out of the Leafs. It is tough to imagine a more gutless performance, almost without exception.

I'd say given the youth of this team, it was inexperience more than gutless. They're fragile and they're getting outplayed by a better, smarter, more experienced team.

Compare to last year when they have the President's trophy winners all they couple handle.

The Capitals played a style the Leafs could hang with. The Bruins don't. That's why I preferred to play the Lightning. It's like an MMA fight where one guy can't wrestle and he finds himself on his back; it's just a matter of time before he gets tapped.

Oh shut up you know you have the horses to beat Tampa. Although Bergeron has to be healthy.

I think Matthews is playing better than given credit for. Boston is checking him really well but he's been getting chances. He should be in the Gards/Bozak "just okay" list but people have higher expectations of him because he's a superstar, but he's still really young. Patience. He doesn't have playoff experience, but he's gaining it now.

JVR has done what he does, couple goals, invisible otherwise.

Nylander, Matthews, Hainsey, Brown, Andersen ... Almost nothing.
