Just stop.

It's 3-1, and there are over 10 minutes to go. Maybe Boston wins, but the game isn't over. Toronto has been the better team. They just have to amp it up to make this a game again.

This is hockey . Better team ? The better team in a game has more goals .. Thats all that matters. Goals . You don't recognition cause you played better. You get it from scoring more goals than the other team.

Hey they are facing one of the best teams in the NHL...

It'd be a whole lot different if they hadn't traded Dion and Phil for a hand job and a nickel of hash.

marner breakaway, marner/marleau 2 on 1

bruins scored on their two 2 on 1s

you're greatly overrating the difference in quality chances. one team just managed to actually score on their chances while the other didn't.

Yes, and the funny thing is Task has been good, but not spectacular. In good position, and his tream has blocked lots and kept the puck to the outside...

Right and before those (2) 2 on 1's all the high danger chances were by Toronto who had multiple including a breakaway.
- Blazed

How dangerois were their chances really? These saves Rask are making seem pretty easy.

Plekanec can only do so much...

when he hits the net, his chances of scoring increases as proven earlier.

The Bruins have 3 goals on like 18 shots.

The last 2 were not Andersen fault.

The first one?

- Hockey_Reverend

I haven't seen a 2-1 played so poorly, either one of them, in a looong time. It was really quite sad. Andersen included. He should have been expecting those passes and he was caught completely off guard.

Literally starting the game down 1 sucks ass. No one wants recognition if they lose they have themselves to blame. To say they played poorly the first two periods though just highlights a lack of hockey knowledge.

That's the problem to me, they can't seem to be able to elevate their game. They were dominating for a bit, then they let up, and they haven't learnt that they can't do that.

What I find peculiar - or perhaps frustrating - is that in the first period the Leafs play a good possession game. I'm not talking stupid Corsi possession - I'm talking passing back, not giving the puck over when you change lines, carrying in, having someone to give the puck to for the most part . . then in the second and third, they've deviated.

You can't generate dangerous chances when you're giving away opportunities. And Babs knows this. So my guess is that some of the players are not executing his plan.

This

Easy saves mostly. Even Marner's breakaway, shot it right at his blocker?

I have to. I have kids!

. . . they're young, and learning, and will likely lose this series. But they deserve a lot more credit than the Leaf teams we've expected to lose for the past 15 years. They have the skill to come back. Granted, they also need to find the fire in the next 9 or so minutes to fight through Boston's defense.

- Monkeypunk

Great optimism and I get it I've been a fan for over 30 years... but this team as we all knew isnt built to go for a deep run... especially our defense.. at this time I don't believe we can come back, they've had our number all series and actually bury their chances while we look for the pretty passes Instead of shooting and constant turn overs.. loss tonight series is over.

2 on 1's can be more dangerous than break always.. Nylander has had like 40 breakaways thisbyeatband has scored on like, what, 3?

How dangerous is multiple 2 on 1's and a breakaway, and holding possession in the o-zone? Id say quite.

I think Babs plan is to play dump and chase but the leafs style don't match that. It's tricky, and I loved the first period they played. Then as you said, they just stopped. I don't think it was a system thing. Just effort.

But we are executing very well. Marner's breakaway was a rushed shot and not very good. The 2 on 1's were ineffective and played well by their D
