Oh no, I'm getting flashbacks of Kucherovski's arguement that Hedman needs to be a physical player.
- jvar17

Wrong...needs to be more of a physical player which we're seeing this series. In 4 games he has zero points but he isn't backing down and is a monster back there.

Stamkos is obviously hurt, he doesn't have his normal jump so hopefully we can close out on Saturday and have the B's/Leafs go 7.

^This.

Hedman is playing his style of physicality; 77 shouldn't worry about the big hit- it isn't his game. Victor's physical play is at its best when he leans on the opposing forwards and uses his body to block lanes and intimidate puck carriers. When he slows the game down to a crawl in his own zone this way, I really don't think there's a better D-man in the league.

0 points, but our best player not named Kucherov this series.

He has been tremendous in the Dzone, unfortunately his offensive output has taken the hit for it but well worth it to sure up our Dzone in the playoffs. Also how great has mcdonough been this series?! Blocking shots every shift, getting in all the lanes (shooting/passing) and starting the breakout in a calm and controlled manor. Really hoping the plan is to extend him after his contract us up but we will see.

I was really down on McD after the trade- thought that he may have been a bad fit. It happens sometimes after a trade.

But, maybe he just needed a few weeks to get the system into his head and recover from injury...because holy cow... he has been a force out there.

Also, Miller. So... he's pretty good at hockey.

Could not agree more, getting him to play his style of physical is so important, not a Gudas style but a wear guys out. I like when he leans on the other team and pushes them instead of just try to poke it and move on.

The defense this series has really stepped up, everyone on all teams are playing banged up and we don't have the biggest, most physical crew but the guys are getting it done, it's been fun to watch for the most part.

I am aware, I am talking about an extension beyond that. so long as its around 6 mill i think he would be a great 2D, unless the management feels that Serg/Foote will be able to step into that role already. Just worries me because that kinda youth on the blue line has not been the lightning way.

its funny how stamkos can put up 4 or 5 pts in 4 playoff games and people say he isn't playing great.

i agree with you, he isn't at his best that is for sure, it's just funny how points follow the elite scorers around. he isn't playing maybe even 3/4 of what hes capable of, but still chugs along at a PPG

honestly very happy with the Defense this series. Coburn has gone back in time 2 or 3 years to when we first got him. He has a new gear these playoffs and is being physical. that man is a beast, if he gets pissed off no one is going to touch him. he is tall AND strong. he is not a lanky guy. a freight train, but never uses his body, til now. i am pleasently surprised with Coburn

it would be cool to see foote in the NHL as early as next season. he is playing AHL minutes right now on what should be a deep calder cup run.

it would be even cooler to see foote, a prospect who yzerman did not deal for McD, play with McD. That would be the ultimate yzerman win

a top 4 after a couple years should be hedman foote sergachev and mcd if we can resign him for 4-5 years.

i dont want to give term to an aging defenseman but he is likely looking for it, so id say 4 years is not too bad and 5-6 would be my absoloute limit

speaking of prospects, katchouk and raddysh absoloutely dominating in junior playoffs right now. those 2 are primed to have short AHL tenures, i'm sure.

Victor Hedman on getting booed every time he touched by #NJDevils fans. “I probably deserved it.” Says he apologized to Nico after game for hitting him in groin. “Doesn’t belong in this game. Immature play by me.”

I'm thinking it'd nice to see Stralman back, for a cheaper deal, to see him as a 3rd pairing veteran D-man into his later years.

Also, Raddysh and Katchouk are going to be another "oh look, Stevie struck gold" pair.

At least he owned up to it. Now, just don't do it again unless it's Marchand on the receiving end.

Stralman will have a contract like coburn in 2 years. But hopefully he wont play like coburn and he can help mentor some of the young guys as they come up on staying home and taking care of there own end first.

Sorry to say but MD will be looking to cash in. He has been making 4.7 through his prime so his last contract should be a big one. If tampa signs him i would not expect anything less then 6x7 at the very least.

Bolts take the Jets approach to this game not the route the Pens or Preds took and score quickly and often and don’t let this one get away. There’s nothing like a team playing for it’s playoff life. No disrespect for the Devils but they should finish this off today. Don't let them up now they are down. In a tight game a deflection or a pressimg D man who can go from trying to be a hero to a goat in a heartbeat could change a series just ask PK about that

Great win! That save Vasy had were he stretched out to save the puck that went off of Stralman was amazing.
