The problem is, this Kings team is hamstrung with cap issues. Doughty flat out said he wants to win and he will get paid. If the Kings pay him that amount then they are screwed because they have to hope they can trade Dustin Brown. The Kings need speed and skill up front and they don't have depth there on the wing. Vilardi is up and coming but not ready yet to where he could replace Carter in which trading Carter would free up money too.

So as a Kings fan, I honestly don't know if they will trade him or not. If they do, what will he fetch? Well, I hope a top 6 skill/speed LW, a top prospect and a #1.

What's the going rate for a franchise D?

Eric Brewer and Jeff Woywitka should get it done

I didn't know Detroit, Montreal, and Ottawa were teams on the rise...

Once you hit the bottom... there is only one direction... unless you're Buffalo... then you find new bottom year after year.

To me, this is equivalent to someone dying and then the next day having the family fight over the estate. Where is the humanity in this?

I will bet money that this defensemen will not be moved and that this article is just putting salt in the wounds of a player/team that went through a tough series.

Caps going up and there will be a trade or two in the offseason. Not worried about cap troubles right now.

So ottawa can’t afford karlsson. But is gonna make a costly trade for doughty. Who they can’t afford. Seems logical

neither side has made any big overtures at this point...which is suspicious...
- Eklund

Umm...they are contractually prohibited from even discussing a contract extension until July 1st. This is stupid.

I'd counter with AA a 2nd and a b prospect. Conditional 1st on if he resigns that is top 5 protected. Side note Mike green is ufa

That’s actually not a terrible trade but boy would I count on him resigning for sure.

All good. Solid player not worth the 6 million a year we payed, but good second pair and on power play. Like all the defensen on the wings playing ahead of where they should. What's thought on the deal though, if he wouldn't resign so say at draft or tdl

Yeah but Kenny h already hates AA and due to his cap management, probably can't afford him Larkin and mantha.... Soooo why not? this probably throws another problem in there, but if the young forwards take another step forward and we have a top pairing d, we could make playoffs in the east. Also this year we have 4 picks in top 40 could spare one for doughty

Larkin and Mantha I would want before AA although AA with Kopitar wouldn’t be so bad. Like I said, that possible top 5 pick would be extremely nice. If it would turn out to be a 2nd I would hate the deal tremendously
