Can you really do best available if they are all kind of around the same spot? Seems like a crap shoot. - mdw7413
Here is what I mean. Take the player that the organization is going to have the best career in the NHL and screw positional needs. I am not necessarily talking about McKenzie's rankings when I say best available.
But, just for conversation, what do we think the Rangers biggest organizational needs are now:
From a prospect basis, you can make the argument that it's defense and wingers.
Of course, they need the hoss number 1 center, but I am talking about organizational depth at each position.

Jack Hughes solves that problem. |

I think wings right now. #1 center will have to be JT or bust. Defense I would like to see with a healthy Shatty, a better Skjei and Pionk |

I'm just getting excited! I honestly don't care what happens too much. Even if we get bumped down, we should still walk away with a really good player. So, I'm looking at that as being the worst that can happen.

80% of those draft sims I did seemed to move us down to 9 so you are probably right Tony |

The likelihood is that they pick 8th or 9th.

Zib, Andersson a 1st and Staal for Nylander. Get it done - mdw7413
great player but have you watched any of the series? Kid has been pretty invisible. In saying that Boston has been one of the best teams in the playoffs |

I think that if Shatty has value on the market they should trade him now.

Technically he was leading the league in points for a D-man up until the injury. He was doing the job he was brought in to do as far as I look at it.
Now if they aren't going to be competitive, I agree. But if Gorton works some magic this off season I definitely want to keep him around |

It's been hard for me to watch much hockey lately. I just end up getting pissed off.

Either one would be fantastic. Toronto has some serious young firepower with Matthews, Marner and Nylander |

That is the correct assessment. And I’ve seen most of their games since entering the league. The fact that Marner is having a better series is a compliment to him, not an indictment of Nylander. Nylander is a more well-rounded player, though. IMO. |

Yep. Hughes will most likely be a great player and maybe he will be a Ranger one day, but this team is not finishing last next year. I would be surprised if we make the playoffs next year, but I have hopes the season will go well enough that we pick later than this year. |
