He’s had his shot. Along with Lindblom this is another kid everyone loves that I’m just not on the same page with their abilities.

He skates hard and plays responsibly. He is a 4th line player on a playoff run Flyers team. They need to upgrade that 3C spot for next year outside of the organization.

If they move Simmonds, they possibly can do that AND grab a top 6 scoring winger (who can skate!!), but one of those two things need to be found via FA or trade. No one in the pipeline is ready to jump up and do either at the start of the 2018-2019 season.

Laughton is not displaying the needed hands or decision making to be a viable top 9 player

It’s still real early on Lindblom. What if we made the final call on Patrick in December/January?

I think we're going to find out that he has some sort of upper body injury. Skating seems fine but the physical aspect of his game is totally gone. And when that is gone his flaws as a player are no longer hidden.
- hereticpride

Yup, I'm guessing that he's playing with some kind of shoulder injury, likely a partial tear, that is going to require surgery as soon as the season ends.

There are a ton of holes on this roster. It isn't nearly as close to contending as people think.

Do you remember the year giroux had last year? No one is trading for a 60 point player with that many years left. This year he’s proven why they gave him the contract. He needs support around him. The depth on this team needs to be better. Giroux looked fine when konecny was on his line with couturier. It was a great match. But for some reason he was removed from the line. Never to return
- Just5

Yes you don't go & trade a guy that just gave you a 102 point season otherwise everyone will be saying that's crazy. Going to be interesting how he goes next season, especially with the young guns gaining momentum. I think he will be good again next year, maybe stepping away from the limelight as was mentioned will give him more room & be better.

True, but a legit upgrade in net and a quality 3C are a must before this team can take the next step forward.

This is why I really want Joel Farabee in this draft. Assuming we get the Blues pick at 14 Hexy may need to part with a 2nd or 3rd to move up a couple of spots to grab him. Imo it's totally worth it. They badly need improvements at LW. They get no production out of anyone not named Giroux.

I’m trying to find positives from this series and one that makes me feel better about this team is playing against a top team such as Pens is showing our biggest flaws. This is the first offseason Hexy will have a lot of cap to work with, we have a top 6 winger who can be moved (Simmonds) and plenty of draft picks to make a move to our liking. This season, the players who will be a part of this team next year stepped up and those who were disappointments (Filp, Manning, Gudas, hell I’ll throw Simmonds in here, and hopefully even Weal) are close to their final games as flyers. We have the likes of G, Couts, Jake, TK, Patrick, Lindblom, Laughton, Provy, Ghost, Sanheim, Hagg, Morin, Amac, who will all be on opening roster. Hexy needs to take a hard look at this roster this summer and find the right complimentary pieces to help our core because they aren’t the problem (minus disappearing this series). With the right moves this Summer, Hexy can really bolster this roster imo.

I'm just curious when did Laughton have more than one or two consistent opportunities to play as the 3C this season? He actually had is ice time and role reduced as the season went on. And just to be clear, I don't know if he's the answer at 3C, but that also means I don't know if he is not the answer for the 3C.

I don't know what people expect from Lindblom, I think his ceiling is a 2LW with PP time, around the 40-50 point, who can offer a strong 2-way game. Basically, a better Raffl.

Agreed and I want a better goalie than Elliott to fill that role. I want a solid starter that can play 55-60 games and let Elliott or even Neuvirth be the guy playing 22-27.
- BiggE

I define a 1 goalie by availability and production. Reviewing Elliott s entire year, I would classify him as an average 1 goalie. Using the same criteria even for the backup, the Flyers really don't have a backup. I m just surprised there is so much hope in Sandstrom and Hart to be ready after next season. Hexy would be doing a disservice to the team not to try and upgrade this summer.

No guarantee that Farabee will pan out either, though I like him a lot. I think Ratcliffe could be a top 9 or even top 6 LW one day too and probably just as soon as Farabee. Neither guy is going to solve the problem in 18-19 though. Lindblom improving in his role would be a big help.

The last 6 seasons are 3 first round exits, and 3 DNQ. Nowhere near good enough.
What do you see changing next year? I see the same poopbags in goal, and a roster littered with dead wood. Let's see if I'm proven wrong.

Don't forget an upgrade to the bottom two pairings, which we should have in the system.

You need a 3rd line centre? Take Bozak! Giroux, 2 1sts and Provorov should get you guys close at least.

Feel like a top 4 D might help out a lot too, maybe Ian Cole? He's a ginger with no teeth, and can probably be had for a decent price. He'd fit right in. In seriousness, I think he'd be a solid complimentary player to one of Ghost or Provorov on the 2nd pairing. MacDonald just isn't going to cut it. He's terrible.

Sucks Wade Allison got hurt because i thought he was close. Big winger with NHL skills and size and shot.

I do kind of feel like they need to move one from either Voracek or Simmonds. I would love to get Galchenyuk out of Montreal and let him play on Patrick's wing. I want Patrick carrying the puck and I think having a shooter like Galchenyuk on Patrick's wing would be nice.

I'd be disappointed if I didn't see an upgrade in goal and a 3C. Defense should clear up a bit with Haag and Morin.

Eventually, we'll have a top 4 of:

Provy/Ghost
Sanheim/Myers

MacD wouldn't be as bad in a 5/6 role playing 15min a night with a decent partner.

I wouldn't count out Myers. They talked this year about how he was ahead of Sanheim was at this time in development. Also a right handed shot.
