Filppula's cap hit is 5 mil if I'm correct so if they could somehow sign him for that amount or maybe 5.5 for 3 years I wouldn't absolutely hate it. They have the money and I doubt Statsny will get anywhere close to what his current contract is paying him at 7.5 mil so, I think he could be had for the price I mentioned above. Not sure if he'd be the best fit but it would be a lot better setup then they have going right now.

If they can get him for 3 years I’d have definite interest. Whatever money for 3 years it’s a non issue.

I think Nash is the better skater though and we need to add speed

Was hoping Mrazek would catch on with u guys cuz i thought he got a bum deal with the poopty defense in front of him here. Looks like hes too erratic to be a regular NHL goalie

There aren't many good free agents, especially at center. There is going to a bidding war for players like Stastny.

I'm talking about signing Statsny with the money freed up from getting Filppula off the books not signing back Filppula

Giroux - Coots - Konecny
JVR - Patrick - Voracek
Lindblom - Bozak - Comeau
Raffl - Laughton - Leier

Provorov - Ghost
Hagg - Sanheim
Gudas - AMac

Ward
Elliot

Out: Lehtera, Simmonds, Weise, Weal, Manning.

If possible Id keep Mrazek over Elliot but cant see us trading both Neuvy and Elliot,

Yeah Nash would be a good add as well, If I'm Hextall those would be my two primary targets going into free agency. Either or would make the team a lot better/deeper.

I would rather give Rick Nash a two year deal than sign JVR long term, which he's probably going to be looking for. Putting Nash with an assist machine like Jake could be pretty decent.

I wouldn't mind it, Bozak isn't the best option but it's better than what we currently have . I also thought about JVR possibly returning but not sure if the team would want him back, I would be into the move of getting rid of Simmonds to make room for JVR though but signing him long term which you probably have to do would scare me a bit.

I would like to avoid anyone who was good in the early 2000s. We tend to get guys after they are past their prime. We already know JVR is good and we need his physicality and he is still pretty young. Could see him here for 3-4 years

Backlund, Lars Ellar or Jumbo Joe

That order IF they add a third line C. I personally would try to promote from within.

I think Bozak is fine. He is a high 40 point player. Scoring on the 3rd line is def an improvement we need. I think he is likely the most reasonable option out there.

Fair enough.

I definitely want to see an upgrade at that 2nd line LW spot. Jake and Patrick need a sniper to feed the puck to. Weal and Lindblom ain't cutting it.

I'd be interested to see how and for what cost you would acquire those players and how you you would rid the team of the players you mentioned.

I don't see Leier as an option moving forward as a regular.

Biggest story line of the summer will be if/what they can get for Simmonds. I’m hoping a high draft pick.

Yeah that is for sure. JVR would be an upgrade over Simmonds in that spot. Just not sure how much JVR will get or be offered. Probably gonna be 6 mil plus

Lindblom is a rookie who has played what half a season in the NHL. Actually his first season in NA pro hockey. I think we should give him a little more time before declaring he "ain't cutting it".

I'd package Simmonds with both first rounders to move up to 3 or 4 in the draft. Try to get Zadina or Svechnikov. If so we'd be set for years to come.

That’s everyone’s hope, but there’s no one to do it. Laughton is a no. Maybe someday, but off his body of work this year no you cannot count on him. Vecchionne couldn’t stick. Frost will spend another year in juniors. Vorobyov may be a long term solution but he is just in the mix to make the team let alone solidify 3C. Lehtera no

Ufa it is

Well out cap payroll right now is 58,684,167. If you subtract Lehtera who I believe will be bought out will save us about 3 mill. Same as Umberger previously. Simmonds would net us some prospects and or picks and save us about 4 mill so that puts us at 51 Mill

JVR - 5-6 mill 2-4 years
Bozak 4 mill max 1-2 years
Comeau 2-3 mill 1 year
Leier 800-900k 1 year
Hagg 1 mill As long as we can!
Ward 3-4 mill 1-2 years

Thats only 19 mill out of 27 mill in cap space

True but he isnt going to show up next season and be 2nd line material. Minimum 2 years for that.
