Missed it due to a EKG course tonight.

Kids are getting experience, if they lose whatever.

Will say it is concerning to see G, V and Simmonds do very little as veteran leaders of this "core".

Wont go into the coaching thing, I bang that drum enough.

The goaltending is the biggest ? imo for next year.

Concerning? They’ve done this for years.

G, Jake and Simmonds just aren't playoff performers, and that's a damn shame.

I'm guessing they spent a lot just getting into the playoffs, but is that really an excuse anybody would use or accept?

I can't speak for the stats of Voracek and Simmonds in the playoffs but Giroux has what 63 points in 67 playoff games the guy can be good in the playoffs the whole team is just trash right now it is what it is. Over the past 2 seasons no team has beat the Pens in a series, they have faced off against a lot of great players and beaten them. Is it honestly a realistic perspective to think that Giroux is going to outplay Crosby, or Voracek is going to outplay Malkin, probably not. No one else in the league has been able to match up against those guys either.

Hah cant help it a bit but isn't Perrault (sp?) injured again? Myers?

Rinne to me is a weak link but I am not sure they beat Pittsburgh/Boston. Jets are fun as hell but kind of sloppy.

I think so, as well Morrissey our for Friday’s game. They have the goaltending and scoring. They all season have not went on any long losing streaks so it’s possible.

same old song and dance. penalties, early goal against, spotty goaltending, our best not contributing, their best putting all the points on the board. they're not this bad, but they sure as hell are playing like it. hoped for a competitive series - getting solid play from the key guys, but knowing they'd still likely lose. this is just embarrassing. to be outscored 17-1 through 3 of the games, 10-1 in your own building, especially after a decent bounce back game 2 victory. they looked like they had no interest in being on the ice tonight. losing coots obviously hurt and all the lines get shifted around, but (frank)...they should be ashamed of their game tonight.

only thing interesting to me is will neuvirth start game 4, will coots play game 4, and if so who gets scratched, weal or lindblom?

2020 can't get here fast enough. goodbye dead weight. hello youngsters...especially carter hart. i can't take the goalie situation any more. i just can't.

That play that Ghost made on the Crosby goal was as weak as I’ve ever seen in the playoffs. First he looked afraid to play the puck and then he lets Crosby saunter out and score on the wraparound.
I thought he was better than that.

Pittsburgh is one of the best in the league for sure. I just feel like the Flyers could have possibly given them more difficulties than they have so far which is why seeing them lose like this is so frustrating. Yeah they have a lot of young guys on the way that are going to make them a really deep team should be fun to see them filter in over the next few years.

The two shutdowns at home are tough to take without a doubt. It was a best of 5 with home ice advantage after two but PGH found another gear and the Flyers slipped one. We'll see how they respond with their backs to the wall Friday. I'm hoping we get at least one more good game in this season.

Hart is at least 3 years away. How good will Giroux and Voracek even be by then? They don't need to get Carey Price in net or anything in these next 3 years but it has to be something better than Elliott and Neuvirth. I would be satisfied with a guy like Bernier tbh. We could have even had him instead of Elliott. This off season go for a guy like Pickard or a younger goalie that is in a backup position that has something to prove at least. Elliott is only going to get older and worse IMO.

i disagree. that is a LONG time. he'll likely spend next year in the AHL and then compete the following year for a spot here. they should give him every chance to make the team in camp. if he does, good for him. if not, he'll be here eventually.

all the stopgaps are about the same. average. i really wish they had just mended fences with mason and signed him to a 2 year deal and let neuvirth walk.

terrible defending. that's the poop you see on a tuesday night in january against a poopty western conference team, not against your arch rival in a virtual must win game.

Our best players aren't as good as their best players and our goaltenders are certainly not as good as Murray. Hart will be 20 this fall, Murray is 22 and has two cups, for those thinking it will be forever before he can upgrade the position. That's not necessarily the case. The Flyers clearly need more, especially up front, but it may not be that much more.
- fls13

I hope we can see at least one more good effort but without Couts and Hakstol's inability to adjust I doubt we do. The only way the Flyers can even decently match up with the Pens is if they shift Giroux to center but I doubt we see that happen if we didn't see it in this game. It's concerning that the coach actually believes the team had a chance to win tonight's game with Val Filppula matching up against Malkin

don't count on it. the flyers might not be down 3 or 4-0 midway, but they'll be trailing going into the 3rd. and will lose. they're finished.

Hexstall won't fire Hakstol because it will show everybody that Hexstall made a big mistake. He will never let himself look that bad. I agree that Lappy and the other coaches should go, too.

There will be a few big name head coaches available this summer. Hopefully Hexy swallows his pride and dumps Hakstol?

Is it really going to take 3 years for Hart to hit the NHL? I would love to see him sooner.

We will have more of the kids coming up on defense next season, but the Flyers really need some scoring help. They also need a few depth players for the bottom 6 wingers. Read, Raffl, Filpula, Lehtera must go. Some of those guys shouldn't be in the NHL.

I'm still happy the young guys are getting playoff experience, but this series has been brutal to watch.

Note to Hakstol: Please play Hagg so he gets at least one game of playoff experience. He can't do any worse than Gudas and Manning.

I hope he is closer as well but its really tough to tell with goalies. I mean sure he lit it up in the CHL but a lot of goalies do. The AHL is a lot tougher competition. What if he plays in the A next season and doesn't have a great year and struggles, then where is he in his path to the NHL. Goalies are hard to gauge in terms of when they will be ready I mean for the Flyers sake I hope its quickly but who knows if it actually turns out that way. I agree about the Mason part I wouldn't have minded them signing him over Neuvirth.

Outplay? No, probably not. But at least be competitive. Most of his playoff points came with Briere, Timonen, Pronger, etc. His last 17 games he has 8 points, 2 goals and 6 assists. He can do better. He has to do better. Granted, this current team has weak spots and holes, but I don't expect G, Jake and Simmonds to just roll over.

The puck doesn't know what league it's being shot in. If Hart, or somebody else, can stop them better than the two under contract vets, give them the starts.

plenty of goalies have looked good in junior and failed to convert to the nhl. i think he's different based on his consistency and improvement, his insane numbers, and he's performed well internationally too. we won't know until he gets here. i'm optimistic and am choosing to believe he'll be ready sooner rather than later.

mason was very good here overall. more consistent than neuvirth and capable of stealing games. a healthy mason this year is better than all of the combined slop they've had between the pipes.
