some opinion of my own
I think Manning is a fine 7th. I don't trust Hakstol to not play him. There also isn't really room for him next season. Prefer he move on (or stay and get waived)
Filppula, Read, and Oduya can all (frank) off. Lehtera stays for one more season. I would buyout Weise, but I don't care if they hold onto him for another season or two in the AHL.
agree on Morin, goalies, and 3C
I don't hate Hakstol, but I think he has a lot of improving to do of his own to stay past next year - YuenglingJagr
Who do we have to replace our 1C?

Sounds like Murray got injured in practice....hit by his own defenseman.
Doesn't matter. You could put Leighton in there and they'd be fine. - Hckygoalie31
leighton does play for the baby pens...which upsets me. but you're right. won't make a difference. roberto romano could play tomorrow night. |

Aside from Patrick, no one on the Flyers played well last night. Provorov did, but he was basically playing 1-on-5.
But Valteri Filppula is where possession goes to die. As soon as the puck gets to him, the Flyers will not have possession for another 2 seconds. As soon as he gets it, it's either ending up in an errant pass or the other team is leaving him behind on an odd-man rush.
I realize they don't have incredible depth or other options, but he's just bad. And I know that next game is likely his last as a Flyer, but he's the poster child for useless forwards on this team. |

Just read this on facebook....and now I'm miffed.
Travis Sanheim has been on the ice for 2 goals against. 1 was 5v5. He has been on the ice for 1 Flyers goal at 5v5...same as Gudas, Ghost and AMac.
The Flyers have been outscored 18-6. Manning has been on the ice for 0 Flyers goals and 6 against....5 at 5v5.
Yep....scratch the kid. |

I can't bring myself to backread. I've been fuming since the second goal against last night.
Here's what I hope to see for next season:
Elliott ... GONE
Mrazek... GONE
Neuvirth... GONE
MacDonald... GONE
Simmonds... GONE
Filpula... GONE
Lehtera... GONE
Gudas... GONE
Manning... GONE
Lappy... GONE
Pick one of Giroux or Voracek... GONE
Now I know that's a ton of change but really it needs to happen. This team is stuck in neutral with this core.
I can't stand the fact that this team for years has sleepwalked through first round playoff crushings with this core group. You can't tell me it's all on Hakstol coaching them incorrectly because it happened with Berube and Laviolette. I'm done with it. They have no heart when they need it.
Ghost has looked like the guy who couldn't play a lick of defense this whole series.
G, Jake, Simmer are invisible.
Goaltending that can't keep pucks from leaking through either short side or their five holes.
Tons of stupid penalties that you know against the Pens will get called.
MacDonald auditioning for LifeAlert commercials.
Gudas not hitting anyone when it's all he's really good at.
DONE can you say it DONE with this group. Hextall needs to make moves this summer or we will see another waste year. |

many good points - nastyflyergirl
don't be offended that i cut your quote, it was just a bit long to give a longer than 1 line response to!
To your points:
i think they resign Manning...actually, the way Hak is playing him there is NO WAY they don't resign him, even if it's "for a 7th dman role".
i agree with no multiple buyouts. they bury Weiss and Lethera is your 4C (
)
not a big haul in effective 3C's in FA....this could be part of a trade? They have some pieces in those 2 first rounders AND possibility of Simmonds...or Gudas????? Frost is a ways out from being a 2C in the NHL, and i think he should be brought up to play along with the top 6 guys when he does get his coffee with the big club. I don't see any of the AHL 3C projections really being what we NEED to compete right now. I actually see the potential of Frost having a DYNAMITE camp, forcing his way as the 2C, making Selke winning Couts 3C again, before i see any of the other kids (Rubstov/Vecchione) really being an effective 3C next year.....and i don't think that's likely either. and btw, when i say effective 3C, i mean a player who you can pen in for 15-18+ goals, IMMEDIATELY improve your PK, and make the FLyers a 3 line threat again.
goalies....after this playoff and the way Elliot is throwing his team under the bus...CAN THEY keep status quo? it's certainly easier, and we're all banking on Hart. I wouldn't mind looking elsewhere (but where!?)
i'm glad we can not be huge fans of Hakstol together...i don't think he's the nightmare many are making him out to be tho.
we need Sanheim and Hagg to make strides next year to improve. We need Morin to be who he was BORN TO BE...i think that helps out the blue line.
xoxoxxoxoxo to everyone. we still have Flyers hockey to watch!!!

reality is if you make that many changes including core guys next year is going to be a waste of a year just based on that. as I said in an earlier post I see them needing a 3C, 1 or 2 top 9 wings depending on what they do with Simmonds and 1-2 4th line guys.

Assuming that centers are distributed fairly evenly, the 62nd center goals leader had 19 goals. That list also includes players who didn't play center (like Giroux). So if they can get 15-18 goals out of a 3rd line center, that would be very impressive. |

Except for G or Jake. That is about what I called for at the forward spots. Most of my changes are 3 D men and Goalies also. Plus changing the PK. |

If a player sucks when they are playing against good players when the game matters the most, it means that they are not as good players.
Ghost has great fancy stats but when he goes up against Crosby he gets embarrassed.
Giroux has great fancy stats but when he goes up against Maata he gets embarrassed. - MacPatty
