I get it.
I do think Frost could play wing in the NHL.
I was trying to think of a good hockey trade were both teams get something they need. - J35Bacher
Frost will be a center in the NHL. He might start at wing, but he's too smart not to play center. |

Hard to not comment when you make it personal, If any D has been bad it’s Ghost , sitting at -7, even last game Sanheim was burned several times as well, Manning and Gudas are both 6/7 D men at this stage and obviously Hak thinks there better than Hagg right now, somehow his opinion carries more weight than yours so back into your mom basement. - Skinner
You’re cute, clueless, but cute. Sorry my being upset that the team I’ve rooted for over half a century has played passionless hockey has apparently pissed you off. But try a bit of honesty, it was you that made it personal.
So please, with all due respect, go (frank) yourself. |

How about everyone just stays in their lane unless they have a legitimate hockey point to make.
And keeps the snipey little personal shots to themselves. We're all miserable enough without having to deal with playground insults. |

I keep going back to Montreal with Gallagher/Galchenyuk. Honestly, as much as I love what he's done, I'd try to do a deal for one of them based around Simmonds. |

Is Simmonds playing injured? He normally tortures the Pens, but this series, he is virtually invisible. - TaxMan22
I wish he was playing injured. He is very visible for all of the wrong reasons. He should sit the next game because he is worse than useless sadly right now |

I think the only thing that really bothers me is the lack of "will vs. skill" that we've seen.
The Pens are better. All of us knew that going in; even I knew that.
I thought that the Flyers could shorten their bench a bit, take advantage of some of the Pens' weaknesses on defense, and score goals.
But that was going to require them to not take penalties, get their fair share of key saves, and most importantly, win 50/50 battles. Do the hard things, like go to the net and stay there. Manage the puck and play with purpose. Be focused on the singular goal of winning shifts, then periods, then hockey games.
All that stuff sounds like cliches. I get it. There's no "Leadership Bucket" that everybody could take a sip from.
But at the same time, 10-1 at home...that's not a good look. It's just not.
I sometimes wonder if these guys realize, truly realize, that you only get so many chances. They didn't make the playoffs last year. Washington busted them up the year before. Didn't make it the year before that.
At some point, you have to recognize that you aren't going to always be in this league and that at some point, you have to give everything you have to beat a team that's better than you.
I remember when Florida beat the Flyers in 1996, made it to the finals, where Colorado beat them. That's what I am talking about.
Florida wasn't better than the Flyers that year, or any other team they played before Colorado.
They just outwilled them.
I don't count the 2010 team in that because with the exception of the third defense pairing and goaltending, that team underachieved all season. It certainly had the talent to make the final, like they did.
Just once, I'd like the Flyers to do something they aren't expected to do, beat a team that is better than them in all the metrics. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
At the very least, 7-0 on the road, then combined 10-1 at home...they have to find ways to do better than that. |

I really think they bring him back. He will obviously have a better year next season - because this is kind of as bad as you can play.
They value whatever intangibles they think he has a lot imo. Its questionable whether they do that too much as a club to begin with.
I dont hate Simmonds, but if you can get a decent piece back then I do it. I wouldnt unload him to just get rid of him. |

So I was trying to think of a trade, a la, Weber for Subban type. Straight hockey deal where both teams got something they thought they needed.
To Philly: Ryan O'Rielly
To Buffalo: Jake Vorcek
Thoughts?
I feel like O'Reilly gives the Flyers the depth down the middle and also upgrade the PK. Also he brings a gritty game and plays that 200 ft game.
Buffalo gets a winger for Eichel that can get him the puck and drive some offense from the wing.
Is it crazy? Does it not work? - J35Bacher

I'd love to get Galchenyuk. I keep thinking Montreal, Calgary, Buffalo and Edmonton would be teams that could be desperate to deal.
In regards to Frost, I think he could be a winger like Gaudreau. Create offense from the wing. |

Trade Simmonds because his contract is coming up for some prospects/picks.
Get in on the Tavares sweepstakes. They have PLENTY of cap space. This will also give the Flyers that 1-2 punch (1-2-3 punch if you move Patrick to the 1st or 3rd line center position) that will match up with any team in the league down the middle.
Imagine Couterier, Tavares, Patrick and Rubstov down the middle?
Plus...he's only 27 |

Just so hard to tell how that's gonna go.
For me, it's just really hard to decide between Kopitar and Couts.
Bergeron is going to get "popularity votes," though, and to me, he is clearly the least deserving.

I think the top 6 is pretty set. Would make run at JT, don't see how you cant if a guy like that becomes available. I'd overpay for certain players, and you overpay for a guy like Tavares any day of the week in my eyes. Its the mediocre guys where you should ideally be saving money. (Weise/Mac).
From strictly a player standpoint, another quality C and an actual above average goalie is the biggest need. |
