Lack of defense (both talent and depth) really showed up last night. Without another Herculean effort by Bernier and the Mac-line not being quite as effective, the end-result was inevitable.

With Girard and E.J. both in the lineup, that's probably a whole different game.

Siemens is just... bad. I don't even know what else to say. Seems like we've been waiting on him forever and he looks slow, lost and just generally out-of-place in the NHL. Factor that in with what little TOI he and Warsofsky get and the Avs are basically just killing the other 4 guys.

It ain't over until it's over but regardless of what happens, I think it's pretty obvious we need to get our D healthy and pickup another defensman or two in the off-season (if for no other reason than adding a little depth) in order to be more competitive heading into next season.

meh, not really. Rule is if contact hinders the goalie from from making the save.

There is incidental contact but.... did that impeding the Rinne's ability to make a save. Probably not.

The rule is so (frank)ed now that there is clear what is goaltender interference anymore, Goal or no goal I wasn't going to be shocked with the call. League has let these Mickey Mouse stuff to call back a goal get out of hand

His incidental contact knocked the puck in off of Rinnes equipment. That’s why it’s goaltender interference.

But what I do agree with is that the league is poop with consistency.

Two weeks ago, against the Florida Panthers, with a chance to clinch home ice, Forsberg poked one home in the last second against Luongo to tie the game. The puck was resting up against Luongo, and another Pred spun and made contact with Luongo. It caused the puck to come loose & Forsberg tapped it home (Forsberg never made contact with Luongo). It was disallowed for goaltender interference. Preds nation went crazy. Even the team was incensed - which they are usually pretty even keel about bad calls.

Last night was almost the exact same scenario. Puck was not frozen but was in contact with the goaltender. Only contact from an Avs player in the blue paint caused it to come loose. Preds fans & media were certain it would be disallowed because it was virtually the same exact call.

But of course, it was allowed to stand. It makes the league look terrible. The end result was not impacted this time, but it well could've been with the Avs making a late push. Why would Toronto not develop a list of 8-10 example scenarios & compare each situation to the closest scenario on video? Then make the call from there.

There is so much parity in this league, and playoff hockey is usually so closely contested, that one goal can make such a huge difference. Can't afford to have ambiguity or inconsistency in these reviews.

Preds are suppose to win, they arent suppose to be looking like they can be beat by the Avs.

Preds are the superior team but if a rookie filled team with 2 of its top 4 dman out with injuries, and their number 1 goalie out....imagine how much of a challenege a powerhouse team like the Jets will be once this series is over.

Avs did not turn over and die through 4 games. Game 5 I expect the same from my Back Boys

Full credit to the Avs. They didn't roll over and have played well. Good things ahead for them.

Not over yet. That 4th win is the toughest to get. Full marks to the Avs. Hopefully, this serves as a wake up call to the Preds because the effort they've shown in this series will not come close in beating Winnipeg.

Nathan McKinnon is playing out of his freaking mind. I'm a Preds fan back to the very beginning and I'll tell you that McKinnon should no doubt be league MVP...if for nothing else, based on this series. Without McKinnon, I believe this would be a Pred sweep. He's kept them in it and I'm not sure if he ever leaves the ice.

someone on twitter made the comparison that the Avs this year are like the Leafs this year in the playoffs.

They might not push it to 7 games but they are a young fast peaky team that wont go away even though the are serious mismatched with current talent depth

This Avs team reminds me of some past Predators teams. They are scrappy, have some dangerous players, and play with plenty of heart and desire to prove they belong. Back in the mid-2000's the Preds had no business on the ice with Detroit or Chicago some of those years, but still pushed the series to 6 games because they played inspired hockey. The Avs do that one better because I believe they have the league MVP in MacKinnon. He will probably skate 25-30 minutes tomorrow night & look pretty dangerous doing it.

2 areas that they need to address for next year and I think they would be a very dangerous team. The Depth outside of the Top line and having a Dman log heavy minutes if Johnson Barrie Girard or Zads goes down.

1 Top 6 Winger
1 2nd Pairing Dman

Get a guy like JVR, maybe even E. Kane or Neal. And take a run at De Haan level Dman in UFA. I think that solves a lot of depth issues.

Exciting time for this club

Wut? I had not seen that. It is my fault they lost last night because I did not watch the game.

I will be cheering for a Vega Columbus finals if the Avs don't pull the miracle comeback.
