Gross. To me tax is fluid so when people say 'after tax' it's a bit ambiguous. There are lots of people making big money and pay a lot less in taxes than their fair share.

Agreed. I don’t know any young families with kids that live in Vancouver that make $160000 or less gross. That’s fine for a couple without kids. Vancouver is insane and getting worse every year. I have buddies that make more than that by themselves and are choosing to relocate outside of BC.

So true. $160 is just so you don't sweat the bills every month. Doesn't mean you can live the life style you want.

But if you are smart with your money you can eek out a pretty good life in Van at $160,000. But if you want to have a separate lot, lease a nice car or truck, vacation or vacation home, diners out, canuck games, hobbies like skiing, etc. then you got to be raking in serious, serious money in comparison to the Canadian average.

That's not even including savings for retirement. It's a (frank)ing battle!

His oldest is 27 or 28. His youngest is 9.

The really damaging part to the story was his first wife. Married into a big, really catholic Filipino family. He's Caucasian. His request for a divorce was not well received.

I lived in the lower mainland half my life and the other half PG, I will take PG anytime. You can get anywhere you want in 20 minutes or less, you have all seasons which I like, no 4 months of solid rain, I live in the country where the air is fresh I can snowmobile, snowshoe, cross country ski right out my backyard, there are lakes within minutes of my house with great fishing and water skiing, its very peacefull but each to his own

I don't mind it up there, I liked Quesnel when I lived there briefly, so many things to do outdoors if you're into that. I'm a warm weather guy now though, I don't want winters of snow and -20 anymore at this stage of life.

The island filled up with all the bumholes from the city that I moved away from. Housing prices in Cumberland doubled in 2 years.
