Maybe a game. Staal's shoulder dips when he is pushing off, the cross check comes up. Morrisey is typically not a dirty player.

We will see what happens with player review but suggesting 15 games?

Reading something that EK puts out is completely useless. All his trade rumours, "to be continued" or "to be updated" are completely sensationalized. Its like trying read something from someone that has the attention span of a squirrel.

Not a dirty play at all.

I have seen guys being sucker punched, getting their fingers torn off and the players responsible for those plays have never been suspended.

Nothing to see here move on.......

He went to push Staal out of the way, like all dmen do w/ two hands on stick when they are in front of net. No reason why he would do that on purpose.
He was hardly looking at him.

It wasn't intentional..Accident

Doesn't seem much dirtier then Hedman spearing Hischier's balls so I guess it should be fine in today's game

He's one of the cleanest players in the game. Accident maybe. But he should get 1 game. First time offender. 10 games? com'on man

he coulda been suspended when they played the Bruins at the end of the season and lined up DeBrusk (i think) from the other side of the ice. His play is as clean as a farmers boot.

Has anybody brought up Marchand yet? If not, then take a minute to consider Marchand’s role in all of this.
- SolidGoldBricks

If Marchand made this hit we would be listening to all the old Choads on our Sports stations saying it was a hockey play and they would be laughing saying that it's just part of his game!

Eastern or western farmer?

Western farmers have the $hIt on the outside of their boots, eastern farmers have it on the inside!

Sorry eastern farmers, couldn't resist that one! I luv farmers really tho b/c I am a farm boy! (Western)

Morrissey needs to be suspended but probably will not be. It was obvious to me the Wild got the short end of the refereeing stick. Brutal one sided refs most likely dictated by the league ?? Like the HNIC crew said, four officials and nobody saw it is amazing because the whole world seen it.

I disagree, if Marchand did this he would get 20 games.

As a Jet fan, I agree. That was definitely an intentional retaliation hit - suspension worthy. This however, wasn't intentional, therefore it will be 1 game.

lol exactly.

it evens out in the end somewhat. Don't get me wrong it was a crosscheck but it also appeared he was going for his shoulder and clipped his chin. Staal sure sold it too.

It is what it is.

Maybe not dirty bud, but definitely careless. A fine, possibly one or two games is appropriate. In the past, first time offender status, whether or not the player returned to the game, etc., have been factors.

If it's more, I'd definitely play the "What about Subban??" card.

Sold it?! Yes, I'm sure he was "selling" getting clobbered in the head! Probably should have gotten called for embellishment!

Intent is hard to judge here, but whether he meant to do it or not shouldn't matter.

Fact is he did it. You crosscheck a guy in the face/neck area you deserve a suspension. Period. It's not rocket science.

Subban and Marchand get nothing for way worse offences. One game should do it for careless use of the stick. But he'll get 3 because he's not gary's little pet marchand.

Thats' another take I have to laugh at. Foligno's play on Myers unfortunately ended in an injury. There was no intent to do anything but take Myers out of the play. Too many people acting like it was some malicious hit.

The only thing to be understood is that poop happens when the ref's start swallowing whistles. If penalties are properly called, the poop happens with much less frequency.

Dirty play or accident, a cross check to the head should be automatic suspension. Any play targeting the head should be automatic suspension.
