Yep, hearing this afternoon courtesy of Bruce Boudreau. - CharlieDog
Well. That makes it a max 5 game suspension per CBA. Doubt it will be that much though. With three games max left in this series I would think it makes sense that the range would be from zero to three games.
Notice how that hack Ek quickly changes his headline to remove the mention of 15 games. |
|
|
|
Edit: ...and enough of Ek and his ridiculous headline. I have zero respect for Ek. He spends the whole season and even the playoffs pumping the latest trade rumour because he knows it generates responses no matter how stupid the rumour is. He's the epitome of sensationalist headlines. Morrissey 15 games. Total BS designed to ignite responses. Personally, I ignore Ek's columns 99% of the time and so should any serious hockey fan. - jetsnation
I agree that reading something that EK writes is completely useless. His Breaking trade news is either "to be updated" or "to be continued". Its like reading something from someone that has the attention span of a squirrel.
Oh, "To be continued" |

Oops, accidentally cross checked a 6' 4"
Player in the head. Sorry about that. No suspension obviously lol.
I'd say he gets 3 games. Too few though |

Kadri got 3 for intentionally trying to end a guys career out of pure retaliation. This is 1 game max. If you have ever played hockey you would understand exactly how that type of play could unintentionally happen. |

I'm sure if I'd ever have reffed I'd also understand how they missed the call? |

Stall went down like a rock. Sold it nicely. Back the next shift. Cross check was unintentional. NO SUSPENSION fine maybe. After the B.S. non calls in this series, these ref's should be shot |

1 game for Morrissey seems right even though I have some issues with how they might have arrived at it. The bigger issue is that they missed other things worthy of review and suspension, again. |

Enough to give Wild their pound of flesh. So be it. Jets will adapt. No complaints. Onward and forward. |

Ideal game 5 blueline:
Enstrom-Trouba
Morrow-Byfuglien
Niku-Poolman
Now, Enstrom on the top pairing, and Niku being thrown in at random worries me. The left is a mess with JoMo out, and Toby slightly rusty. That said, with Toby’s low-key spectacular defensive play, and Niku being the top dman in the world’s #2 league, I’m alot more worried about Chairot being asked to do anything at all. Morrow is playing the best hockey of his life with Buff, so I bench Chiapet before he can do anything to screw game 5. |

Myers is ready play Friday? Thats the word?
So JoMo is out on Friday, who plays the left side on Friday assuming Myers is ready to go and Enstrom is not? What are the pairings based on this scenario? |

Poolman-Trouba
Morrow-Byfuglien
Chairot-Myers
Maybe? I prefer Niku in for Chiarot, but Mo prefers Chiapet over everything. |

I might have been hearing things but I thought Illegal Curve said that Ron Mclean was saying Myers was ready for Friday. I also heard that Enstrom skated today, which I think is the first time since injury? Correct me if I am wrong but I understood Enstrom had been just riding the bike up to today. It doesn't sound like he is ready to go yet.
This is what I think I heard. Should be interesting D pairings for Friday, can't wait! |

You can’t play Enstrom, Morrow and Niku all on the left side. You don’t have 600 lbs combined there. A junior B team would trample them.

No kidding. Likely more like 550 lbs and not too much of that is muscle. We'd be crushed.
I highly doubt that Maurice would let on if Myers would be back. Its been a media blackout on the roster so far and I see no reason he would change that. Keep them guessing.

Doesn't sound like there's a whole bunch of choice here ... if Niku goes in one of us has to find out if there's ever been a 165 lb Dman in the playoffs before !
Post lockout, of course, since they were all that way back in the '50's |

So its either Niku or a recovering Myers. Likely limited ice time for either of them. Maurice gets last change so that may help the situation a lot. Trouba and Buff will get a LOT of ice time. It could be a 30 minute game for Buff. As for Trouba, its time to step up with his game which has been very mediocre this series.
The Chevy acquisition of Morrow for depth has turned out to be very astute. |

I bolded this last line because this trade is paying dividends right now.
So, I am not one to start or perpetuate rumours but apparently Myers was going to go Friday according to Ron Mclean, but we will see. Never say never. But this could also be misinformation as well. Who knows because there is lots of gamesmanship going on.
But, I can't see the left side of Niku, Morrow and Chairot. I am not so sure that Niku is the best option for left side at this point in the series with a desperate Wild team. Also, there is one more option for the left side and a heavier body than Niku and that is Mechiori. He has some NHL games (30), bigger body (6'4" 209), stay at home, simple game.
But, I think that it is most likely that Myers will be OK to go (which is unsubstantiated at this point) and perhaps that Rexy's response earlier on D pairings under the assumption that Enstrom can't go and Myers could was the following:
Poolman / Trouba (change the pairings accordingly as you see fit)
Morrow / Buff
Chairot / Myers
I think Poolman did play some left side this year, did he not play a game or two on the left side?? He seems versatile enough to do the job.
The suspense is great!! |

Sam Girard in Colorado. Literally right now. And on their top pairing. Possibly Tory Krug on boston’s top pairing, as well.
I’d also wager that Karlsson, Klingberg, Josi, and possibly Duncan Kieth were in the 170 range the first time they saw playoff hockey. |

The problem with those pairing is that the Dmen who will get the heavy ice time would likely have to play together. Also Trouba is capable of playing left side in a pinch like he did last year. I think Chariot will likely get much more ice-time than either Morrow or Poolman so that could change things a bit. Also as an outside alternative , if Myers is 100% then its possible Trouba could be paired on left side with Buff, and Myers with Chariot and those four will log the bulk of the ice time. Poolman and Morrow would get clean up duty of about 10 minutes of ice time each. |

With D encountering significant injury/suspension issues and with this situation in the series, up 3 games to 1, playing at home and 3 chances to win I think it's Niku time. If we needed a right side d I would go with Poolman.
My lines:
Chiarot / Trouba (should be relatively safe/reliable)
Morrow / Buff (has been working well)
Niku / Myers (can shelter minutes a little for both players)

Do you think he's really 165? maybe with equipment on. He looks about 145 to me.
