I think the Raptors guys are exceptional in this regard. Sure when there is a huge block or drained 3, they shout and get excited. What I respect though, is that they analyze the WHOLE game, both teams, praise ALL the players when it's deserved and critique ALL the players when it's earned.
- markmark

Yep, not too hard really. If it's a cheap shot or great goal you call it regardless of which team it is. IMO

No. This is wrong. And while Adam French is usually wrong, this is wronger (lol) than even the usual Adam French wrongness (lol).

There is no bigger homer than Jack Edwards. Not in any sport, not for any team.

Buddy, you don't have the right to criticize me in public. Nor do you seem to have a sense of humour. You should be stripped of your role of ref for this. You got a problem with me, take it management, or talk to me in private, otherwise, piss off.

I apologize for being a jerk, just do me a favor and come to me with any problems. Its only going to make all our jobs easier. I'm really happy to edit something if you think it crosses a line, I just don't think there is any need to complain about someone who's on the same team as you are in public.

in my pool I went heavy with Jets and Broons

Boston was an easy pick, if they lose in rd 1..well then that means the Leafs beat them. If they win..well its good for my pool.

The airport is awesome

I will actually pay more to fly out of Buffalo and avoid Pearson.

- Aetherial

Never actually flown out of Buffalo.

But 100 years ago (18 years ago, actually), when we were living in Boston, my Toronto homies were planning to go to a Bills game.

I was going to fly in for the game, and then fly right back out, because at the time an airline was offering $22 each way Boston-Buffalo.

Like, how the frank could you possibly make money off of that?

I don't think they actually did - I'm sure they went bankrupt.

He is the most intense homer but there's some pretty big homers in the trash markets like Florida and Arizona... it's the only way to get people pumped up about it on FOX's 4th tier sports channels
- TheMussel

Mickey Redmond is a huge Detroit homer. So is Tripp Tracey for Carolina.

They're not play-by-play guys, though. Just colour commentators.

So, what will the Jets Morressey get?

Over under on the 3 game Kadri special?

That was a wicked cross check, right to Staal's head....

- Hockey_Reverend

Is the question, "what should he get?" or "What do we think the NHL will actually give him?"

Because these are two very different questions.

No suspension, because there was no penalty on the play.

Yes, the NHL is this franking pathetic.

Full disclosure: I grew up listening to Paul Morris as the Maple Leaf Gardens P.A. announcer. Full monotone, which every Leafs fan of a certain age can still hear in their heads:

"Goal scored by number 27, Darryl Sittler. Assist by..."

Having said that, the thing I find the most franking annoying is homerish P.A. announcers.

And there is absolutely nothing franking worse than "...the PECO Powerplay!!!!!!!!"

Seriously, shut the frank up.

- Atomic Wedgie

"Goal scored by number 27, Darryl Sittler. Assist by number 9 McDonald and number 12 Thompson.........[long pause]....time 14:23. That's Sittler, from McDonald and Thompson.......time 14:23."

Why do opposing fans expect objectivity on team broadcasts?

It's the Bruins' feed. Of course the dude is cheering for the Bruins. His salary is paid by the Bruins.

- Atomic Wedgie

It was the funniest thing when he called out saying "this isn't peewee! He's still conscious! Why stop the play?!" When talking about a Leaf player down.

When Mcquaid got the puck to the face it was the total opposite.

I get he's a Bruins guy so he's pro bruins but it's still ridiculously funny

1 or 2...I think it was an accident....but still worthy of a suspension.
- Garnie

How could it possibly of been an accident, what else could he have been trying to do?

Redmond is brutal, but doesn't hide it. I disagree about Tripp completely. He is a Carolina guy, and he makes no qualms about that. BUT, he also praises the other team, and he is fair in his assessment of the Canes' play. I think him and John are in the top three in the league as far as broadcast teams go.

What he did was worse than what Kadri did, so obviously he'll get less games.

He is funny, I agree. When he was on ESPN, I thought he was great. And actually, his play by play skills are pretty good. It's all the other crap.
